The “Peaky Blinders” series put an unexpected twist on gang fiction. Centered on a family in Birmingham, England, during the 1920s, it introduced to television a format that previously seemed to be dominated by American productions. With Cillian Murphy at the helm, it became one of the most successful strips. However, the weight of the star made this actor make a drastic decision to continue his career.
Actor Joe Cole has been in the industry for a decade, but his best-known role was that of John Shelby in “Peaky Blinders,” one of Tommy’s younger brothers. But over time, the interpreter realized that there was no room for his growth and that this was happening because of Murphy. “With the show, I was never able to walk out of doors with that character. It really is Cillian’s show,” he confessed to The Metro.
In addition, the actor revealed that, due to that role, he was left in a box from which it was very difficult for him to get out. “I’ve spent the last few years turning down gang-related series. When one of those shows does well, they offer you much more of that,” said the actor of the series created by Steven Knight. “In fact, I decided to leave” Peaky Blinders “because I wanted to explore new paths, new characters, and new stories,” said Cole.
Joe left “Peaky Blinders” in 2017 after the fourth season. Right now, the series is in the middle of filming the sixth part, which was delayed by the pandemic. Although it will be the last installment in serial format, Knight said he has wishes and plans to conclude the story with a film, although there are not many details about it.
Closer And Closer
For fans of “Peaky Blinders”, the wait for the new season has become too long. Every once in a while, to ease anxiety, the production takes small glimpses of the footage and what will, in theory, hit the screen this year. Through the official fiction account on Twitter, the first images of Paul Anderson in the skin of his now-famous character Arthur Shelby were shown.

In the post, he can be seen with the characteristic clothing of the series. But he was not the only one who had a small preview: by the same means, the first image of actress Natasha O’Keeffe was shown in the sixth season. The person in charge of giving life to Lizzie looked very glamorous with the style that already characterizes the character.
