On 24 November when the world was going through the deadliest delta variant Covid 19 infection, a new outbreak of the coronavirus variant shocked the world.
Health Experts Advocated More Vaccination & Following Covid Basic Rules
The rise of the Omicron variant was visible as in South Africa the cases tripled. The United States, on the other hand, started working on restricting the omicron variant to enter its borders.
The Omicron subtype carries 50 mutations which allow the infection to travel faster than the earlier version, the Delta variant. After imposing so many travel restrictions and banning 8 African countries nationals including the USA residents from entering the country, on 1 December 2021, the first case was found in the state of California and it gave a new space to the Omicron variant in the USA.
On the same day, another case of the newly detected variant was found in the Minnesota state where the infected person came back to the state after attending an anime event in New York City.
As per the reports, the infected person in California was fully vaccinated but was not eligible for booster shots. Now, this raised a major concern related to the vaccination and many medical experts in the country started questioning the effectiveness of the vaccine on the omicron variant.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, The Chief Medical Adviser to the Federal Government stated that the effectiveness and efficiency of the vaccine will start to diminish after a certain time period and hence increasing the chances of a fully vaccinated person getting reinfection.
For this, he explained the importance of availing of a booster shot and urged all eligible adult American citizens to receive their booster shots as soon as possible.
According to the latest news, The Omicron variant has traveled to almost 15 States and the rising cases are a sign of danger for the people, and here comes the need to get vaccinated.
The White House during the briefing has suggested all the unvaccinated nationals start getting vaccinated as with the rise in the cold weather, the mutants will travel more and hence the Covid 19 cases will increase leading to the rise in the hospitalization and death rates in the country.
The new tally for the Covid 19 has surpassed 100,000 average daily cases in the USA which is now an alarming situation. These are the highest number of cases after the month of September 2021. The maximum number of cases have been registered from the delta variant of coronavirus.
President Joe Biden is pushing more focus on vaccinating more and more citizens to safeguard their lives in the upcoming days. He has also urged people to stay at home and to reduce travel if there is no emergency, following basic rules of masking, social distancing, and vaccinating.
The travel restrictions will increase further if the outbreak of the new variant is high as the situation is demanding stricter rules to curb the rising cases in the States. ṣ
