The medical experts in the country are now complaining and blaming the rise of the omicron variant in the country.

The country can now clearly witness that there has been an explosion in the new number of cases of the highly contagious variant of the novel coronavirus, Omicron all across the country. The United States has reported a caseload of more than 700000 cases on an average, surpassing all previous records.

On Monday itself, the nation surpassed the mark of one million cases and the exact numbers stood at 1.38 million and it will keep on increasing, warns health care officials.

With a rise in the number of cases, the number of people requiring hospitalization is also increasing and as many as 150,000 Americans are currently in hospitals battling the virus. Handling such a heavy caseload has stretched the resources of hospitals all over the nation and this has led to a severe shortage of staff and medical supplies in hospitals.

Moreover, many healthcare staff is not attending hospitals because either they or someone in their family is out with Covid-19.

The hospitalization amongst the kids between 4-10 is increasing very fast and in some parts of the country, the infection cases are rising at a triple rate making it difficult for the medical authorities. It must be noted that in kids and young teens, maximum cases are being detected from the non-vaccinated and there is a dire need to vaccinate the kids as soon as possible.

Considering the severe shortage of hospital staff and also considering the fact that symptoms due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19 are mild, the healthcare authorities in the USA have taken an extraordinary step of allowing nurses and healthcare staff affected with the coronavirus to stay on the job. It is, however, required that they have either no symptoms or mild symptoms.

Now, this is a very bold move and it is coming at that time where the healthcare workers are in isolation and this has made it difficult for the hospital administrations to provide the best treatment to the infected patients.

Some hospitals in the United States have advised their staff who are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms to stay on the job in order to battle the heavy hospitalization admissions because of the omicron strain.

According to medical experts in the United States, the number of cases is expected to rise rapidly in the near future and the upcoming weeks are very tough for the country.

Some healthcare officials are taking their stand against this step and warned that such moves could lead to more infections as the omicron variant carries mild symptoms and it travels faster than the delta.
