Eddie Mair, a host who joined LBC in 2018, said he would step down as presenter in August this year.
Eddie began his reporting career at Radio Tay in Dundee, where he also hosted the morning show, frequent phone calls and newscasts. For twenty years he ran the PM of Radio 4 and also hosted other news broadcasts, such as Newsnight on BBC Two.
Mair took over as Newsnight, The One Show and most notably the host of The Andrew Marr Show after Andrew Marr suffered a stroke.

One of Britain’s best-known radio hosts, Eddie Mair, has claimed Covid has made him “rethink” his philosophy of life. Upon retirement, Mair also emphasized her wish to spend more time with her family.
The BBC hired Mair in 1987 as deputy editor of Radio Scotland. Then, in Radio Scotland’s mid-morning timeslot, he anchored Good Morning Scotland, Reporting Scotland and Eddie Mair Live.
From 1996 to 2000 he hosted the BBC/PRI program The World. In 2018 Mair moved to LBC and took over as BBC host in place of Iain Dale.
Mair was the podcast’s first host from episode 1 to episode 48, and as of May 2021 the podcast was still following the investigation into the fire that destroyed the iconic Grenfell Tower in London.

Mair received between £300,000 and £350,000 from the BBC for the 2016-17 financial year. According to The Guardian, he refused to take a pay cut as part of gender equity adjustments made by the BBC in 2017 and 2018.
On July 1, Mair announced that he would be leaving the BBC and leading his final PM show on August 17. The following day, it was made public that Mair would be joining LBC; his first program for the network will premiere in September 2018.
Mair hosted his PM farewell show on August 8, 2018, although he did not mention it on the show.

In 2005, Mair won the News Journalist category of the Sony Radio Academy Awards. For his work on Midi with Mair on 5 Live, he was also nominated for two Sony Awards and received one each for Best Breakfast and Speechcaster of the Year.
Eddie received a Gold Award from the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2012 for his interview with Julie Nicholson, who lost her daughter Jenny in the London bombings on July 7, 2005. The PM program won a Gold Award the same year for its coverage Departure of Hosni Mubarak from the presidency of Egypt.
The Independent on Sunday’s 2013 Pink List ranked Mair 28th among the most well-known LGBT people, while a 2005 Radio Times poll ranked him as the fifth most important person on British radio.
