The catastrophic Windsor Hills incident claimed the lives of five people, including a pregnant woman. A 40-year-old nurse has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Eight people were injured as a result of the collision. The LA County Fire Department arrived at the scene just after 1:40 p.m.

According to CHP investigations, the Mercedes was traveling ‘at high speed’ when it ran through a red light while traveling south on La Brea; the actual reason for the accident was unknown.

A tragic multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in the Windsor Hills neighborhood claimed the lives of six people, including a newborn baby and a pregnant woman, and injured eight others.

A dark Mercedes-Benz driven by a 40-year-old man ran a red light on La Brea Avenue in Slauson and hit a dozen other cars, according to the CHP. Two cars then caught fire.

Although she avoided the accident and suffered serious injuries, the driver of the Mercedes was taken to hospital.

Several others rushed through the junction to offer help. CHP inspectors said some victims were thrown from their cars and CBSLA saw a child seat in the middle of Slauson Avenue.

In La Brea, six people, including a pregnant woman, died.

A high-speed car that ran a red light caused a crash in the Windsor Hills on Thursday as horrified onlookers watched.

Alphonso Word claimed a pregnant woman was laid off. Investigators say a female Mercedes driver rammed several vehicles at the intersection of South La Brea and Slauson Avenues at 1:40 p.m., killing six and injuring eight.

Driving south on La Brea Avenue, the motorist hit a car on Slauson Avenue before hitting another car and crashing into a gas station sign.

At least three of the vehicles caught fire after the accident. Asherey Ryan, her unborn child and four other people are said to have died there.

Arrested is a Mercedes driver

In connection with the horrific accident at Windsor Hills, a 40-year-old nurse has been arrested and is currently being held for manslaughter.

The woman who is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital has been identified as the driver of the Mercedes-Benz which collided while speeding down La Brea Avenue towards Slauson Avenue at a speed estimated 80 to 100 mph.

She is supporting the California Highway Patrol’s investigation, according to two sources, and detectives are looking at her blood work to see if she was under the influence.

She will be formally charged Monday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney. As the coroner identifies the expectant mother who died in the high-speed collision, the arrest takes place.
