Michael Redfern, born March 30, 1943, was well known for his screen and stage performances. The Isleworth, Middlesex native first rose to prominence as the on-screen husband of Lynda Bellingham in the Oxo Family TV adverts.
The family packed up and moved to a new home at the end of the 16-year advertising campaign. Following the release of The Oxo Factor in 2009, Oxo attempted a new contemporary family concept in 2011 with a screenplay by Richard Curtis.
Redfern worked as a taxi driver and restaurant owner after the Oxo commercials ended. Later, he and his wife, Carol, moved to Spain, where he hosted quiz nights.
He was well known for his roles in Oxo commercials, but he was also well known for appearing in a number of television shows. In shows like The Young Detectives, The Offence, George & Mildred, The Young Ones, Boon, Crossroads, Filthy and others he portrayed a police officer.
