Marvel can use Black Panther 2 to lay the groundwork for the Illuminati and Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther 2 may affect the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by introducing or at the very least teasing new characters and themes that will be crucial for the following slate of Marvel movies.
There will be a few new characters in Black Panther 2, including Tenoch Huerta’s Namor the Submariner, an anti-hero that Marvel Studios has acquired the rights to use in the film. Bringing the entire city of Atlantis with it, the future sequel will see the undersea country of Atlantis battle Wakanda with the help of Ironheart technology developed by Dominique Thorne.
The Brief Introduction to the Illuminati
Namor is also part of the Marvel Comics Illuminati, who made their first appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As Atlantis goes to war with Wakanda, Namor the Submarine makes his MCU debut, laying the groundwork for the development of an Illuminati in Earth-616 in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The MCU’s first look at a superhuman/mutant council came in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, when the Illuminati made a brief appearance. It is based on a much older and more secretive super team on Earth-838. Iron Man, Namor, Doctor Strange, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, Professor Charles Xavier, and Black Panther were founding members of the Illuminati when they first appeared in Marvel Comics in 2005’s New Avengers #7.
Tony Stark realizes that all of these heroes know of alien species before the conflict boils over to Earth. They could have avoided the problem if they had pooled their resources, which is why Iron Man wants to create a government of superhumans specifically. They all reject the concept, citing various reasons why it is poor. But they also agree to meet frequently in secret, which is how the Marvel Comics Illuminati was born. Only T’Challa refuses to join, saying it would end in disaster.
This is Namor
Indeed, the Illuminati allowed the Skrull invasion of Earth and even sent the Hulk into space due to their actions. As Namor informs the Illuminati after nearly drowning Stark, Black Panther was right. However, despite its flaws, the Illuminati become essential in preventing the destruction of Earth and possibly the entire Marvel Universe.
In order to redeem the dismal portrayal of the Illuminati in Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever can provide a true recreation of Marvel Comics’ main super team – starting with Namor. A post-Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Black Panther could lead to the formation of a new Illuminati on Earth-616 based on heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the new Black Panther, Namor, and Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange could form a comparable council for superhuman matters if he learns how the Earth-838 Illuminati stopped the power-hungry Stephen Strange variation of Earth-838. A similar outcome will occur when the two most powerful countries on Earth go to war, resulting in the formation of Earth-616 Illuminati.
Who will be part of the MCU Illuminati in the future?
Wakanda Forever could lead to Earth-616 Illuminati, which a new Black Panther, Strange, would lead, and Namor, to avoid another horrific conflict or disaster like the comics. Wong, Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner are also expected to join. Val can be included among those who represent the underworld regarding Illuminati membership. I doubt MCU Phase 5 is the perfect time for the MCU to bring back the Illuminati.
Even though Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the last MCU Phase 4 movie, the first MCU Phase 5 TV series is called Secret Invasion, which takes its title from the Skrull invasion of Earth comic book series of the same name in Marvel Comics. The Skrulls enter Earth in the guise of superheroes in the comics, dividing the Illuminati from the rest of Earth’s heroes.
Additionally, Secret Invasion gives the Illuminati a task worthy of their global power and influence, as the MCU’s Skrull race proves to be as terrible as the Kree. Marvel’s 14-year history is best represented by a more accurate portrayal of the Illuminati. The new Illuminati of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever could potentially become the villains of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty after the movie.
