Did the police harass Yungeen Ace at JayDaYoungan’s funeral? “The disrespect is at an all-time high,” say fans.
BOGALUSA, LOUISIANA: More than 300 people attended rapper JayDaYoungan’s funeral on Sunday, August 7. Yungeen Ace, a close friend and regular business partner of the late rapper, was also on hand to offer his condolences. On July 27, five men shot JayDaYoungan, killing him at the age of 24, as he sat with his father outside their house.
The funeral services were peaceful, but Yungeen Ace and his crew were reportedly harassed by police. A few videos that surfaced on the internet after the police arrived at the funeral service showed how their mere presence sparked unrest. The funeral took place shortly after fellow rapper, Young Slo-Be, was fatally shot in Manteca on August 5. Rapper VNZA, who died in Missouri in June 2021, and Supa Gates, who was shot multiple times in Crown Heights’ St. John’s Place near Troy Avenue in April 2021, are two other rappers who have been killed.

Cops are seen stopping the funeral procession in a video posted by No Jumper to Instagram as a large crowd gathered nearby. Additionally, a few police officers were seen atop a structure, likely keeping a close eye on the activity. Yungeen Ace has yet to speak about the incident. On tracks like “Opps,” “Without You,” “Step for You,” “Creep Behind,” and “Don’t Leave Me,” among others, the rapper has worked with JayDaYoungan.

On the other side, the photo sharing app has 3.4 million fans and subscribers for Yungeen Ace. Javorius Scott, better known as JayDaYoungan, rose to fame for his catchy music and racked up millions of streams on it. The rapper is well known for his singles “23 Island”, “Elimination” and “Opps”, which as of November 2020 had amassed 49, 27 and 26 million plays respectively on SoundCloud. A wider audience got to know him through his debut album, “Misunderstood,” which debuted in 2019 and reached No. 43 on the Billboard 200.
“The level of disrespect is unprecedented,”
After the recordings went viral, social media users were appalled at the circumstances. “Why was Yungeen Ace held back by the police after the funeral? One person commented, “It’s crazy why he didn’t move.
“Sad as hell, I can’t even let the b family homies mourn his passing without the piggies bothering everyone,” one person wrote.
The disrespect is at its highest with these harassing hip hop cops, someone else pointed out. “Definitely officers guarding the whole family just in case,” one person tweeted.
Another said, “It’s sad,” in conclusion.
