Murder of Karen Swift: her husband David Swift arrested after 10 years for killing his wife
After disappearing on October 30, 2011, Karen Swift’s body was found on December 10, 2011, more than ten years ago.
On Monday afternoon, deputies from the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama worked together to capture David Swift.
The grand jury’s decision to indict and indict David with murder on Monday thrilled and moved Sheriff Jeff Box. His office had been investigating the death for nearly a decade.
The sheriff’s office concluded its investigation in October 2019 and provided the evidence to District Attorney General Danny Goodman’s office. Jeff admired the thoroughness with which Goodman and his team reviewed the evidence ahead of Monday’s grand jury presentation.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will hold David without bond until a scheduled extradition hearing on Tuesday. If convicted, David could spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.

How did Karen Swift die?
According to an earlier WREG story, Karen Swift’s car was found abandoned on the side of the road about a quarter of a mile from her residence. His body was discovered in a nearby cemetery a month later by a hunting party.
Her house was again in the spotlight when the police raided it. On Thursday 2013, no one answered the door to the Swift home on Willie Johnson Road north of Dyersburg despite there being two cars parked in the driveway.
When Dyer County investigators came with a search warrant Wednesday night and went to work, the two-story residence was far from quiet.
Although Karen had only recently filed for divorce from David Swift and was last seen there, she was last known.
Karen was murdered by blunt force trauma to the head, according to the autopsy report, which was released in November 2018 after being hidden for seven years. In addition, she was only partially dressed and had numerous bone fractures.
