However, previous Department of Justice (DOJ) rulings from 2018 and 2020 that dismissed Cornejo’s 2014 lawsuit accusing Navarro of attempting to force her to perform sexual acts were overturned and declared invalid by the 14th Division of Justice. the Court of Appeal (CA) in a decision dated July 21, 2022.

Ferdinand Topacio, Cornejo’s attorney, said he is confident the Department of Justice (DOJ) will find a solution. Topacio claims that the DOJ, particularly those responsible for maintaining the security of official documents, can be held responsible for the missing record.
Topacio said in a videoconference that the lost file scenario was a crime and a mishandling of official documents. He said he would seek the cooperation of Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla to expedite the resolution of the case. Topacio said Cornejo’s team could request a reconstruction of the record if the DOJ insists the records were lost.
