Canadian football star John Metchie was recently diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia.
Metchie was selected by the Texans in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and currently plays in the National Football League. He is a very talented footballer.
When John was a college football player, he twice won the Jon Cornish Trophy. In 2020, he broke out as one of Alabama’s top three receivers after rushing for 916 yards on 55 catches and six touchdowns.

John has just revealed that he has been diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia, a type of leukemia. As a result, he was forced to miss games this season. He was not injured in any way.
Due to his latest diagnosis, he will have to put football on hold in order to focus on his health and start therapy. Through the Texans, he released a statement outlining his most recent diagnosis.
According to Metchie, he has the most treatable form of leukemia. He will therefore also recover after the procedure. Following his most recent diagnosis, the Texans made the decision to place the catcher on the active/non-football illness list on Sunday.
Many people sent their best wishes to the Texans wide receiver, and other well-known NFL players prayed for and supported him. Metchie will pay full attention to his health this season and will not play football.

John has acute promyelocytic leukemia, a type of leukemia. John will recover quickly as long as he completes his treatment, as this leukemia is the most treatable type of leukemia.
Metchie spent his final three seasons with the Crimson Tide after signing as a four-star rookie in the 2019 class. The Texans selected him with the 44th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
In his final season as a junior at Alabama, Metchie led the Crimson Tide with 96 receptions while finishing second on the team with 1,142 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Also, after four overtimes, he earned the game-winning two-point conversion as Alabama defeated Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
In the SEC Championship Game against Georgia the previous year on December 4, he tore his ACL, ruining his season. However, it was hoped that he would be available to play at the start of the season.
Who are John Metchie’s family members?
Metchie was born in Taiwan on July 18, 2000 to a Nigerian father and a Taiwanese mother. He and his family moved to Accra, Ghana when he was young.
Later, his father remained in Ghana while his mother and four brothers moved to Brampton, Canada. After that, he moved to the United States and enrolled in Hagerstown, Maryland’s St. James School.
After graduating, Metchie spent a year at Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey, before choosing to play NCAA football for the University of Alabama. His parents had always encouraged his vocation and his interests.
He was exceptionally athletic from an early age, and his parents encouraged him to play sports. At only 22 years old, he is already a professional footballer.
His achievements and the progress he has made in his football career makes his parents beam with pride.
