Screen Rant sat down to talk with Schemmel, Aguilar and Marnocha about their roles in the films and asked about the kind of pressure they felt joining Dragon Ball’s world and be a part of this story, to which Zach Aguilar replied that they felt the pressure but were grateful to be part of such an incredible franchise.

“Oh my goodness, a lot of pressure, but at the same time, so much gratitude to be able to be a part of this amazing franchise and to grow watching the show and working with Chris Sabat. It’s been very, very surreal I would say , yeah, the pressure was definitely something I felt at the time. But at the same time, the team behind this show puts so much love and attention into it that during the recording sessions, I don’t didn’t feel like I was part of it. It was just a pleasure to work on it.

Jason Marnocha also said that while the pressure was high, playing Carmine took it down several degrees and the overall mood was good.

“I felt the pressure a lot more on like……. The atmosphere was good and the sessions were wonderful. With Carmine there was also a certain degree of non-pressure for me because I expected that if I ever got into Dragon Ball, it would be like one of these characters blowing up planets or whatever, so playing a character who was just sort of very shrewd and direct and not yelling was helpful.

By asking how the Dragon Ball Super: Super heroes the welcoming process was like considering there will be a lot of returning characters and a lot of new ones.

Sean Schemmel said that when casting, apart from acting, they have to make sure the person gets along with the whole cast, because that’s the most important thing.

“We have to consider with the casting that it’s all about the actor………When we choose someone, we have to control them professionally and we have to make sure that they will get along well with the cast. Because we also know that being in this world, you are going to be together a lot. You’re going to make a lot of appearances and it’s going to last for many years. And if you have someone you can’t work with, that helps.”

Zach Aguilar responds by saying that he received a very warm welcome from the entire team at dragonball. He also mentioned that being part of such a franchise has always been a dream for him which finally came true.

“100% and like, I will say that Sean and Chris and all of the Dragon Ball legacy characters have given me nothing but the warmest of welcomes. Being part of this franchise has been just an absolute dream come true…….. Sean and Chris have been absolutely amazing. Chris with the way he put the movie together, it’s really great all around. Everyone is super nice and cool and fun to work with. Just like I expected them to be as a fan, so that’s still nice. They say never meet your heroes, but that’s the case with me, I’m glad I did.

When asked what were the most fun and challenging parts of playing their character in Dragon Ball Super: superheroes, Sean Schemmel said fans should look past the credits scene because what he did there was fun for him, which makes us more excited now.

The most fun was the post-credits scene that I had to do. It was fun. So be sure to look beyond the credits. There was nothing difficult. For me, it was a walk in the park because I’m used to having to scream my brains out for hours, and so it was kind of a walk in the park for me.

Zach Aguilar said the hardest thing for him was keeping his character bad. He talked about a car scene saying that although it was difficult, it was really fun to do.

Yeah, I mean, I think for my character the funniest thing was the hardest thing, trying to keep them mean and mean……. there’s a car scene where he likes his voice to go really high. He does that and I don’t really do those kinds of characters normally, so it was definitely a challenge but a lot of fun at that.

Jason Marnocha talked about the opening narration and how to make it a bit more performative and perfect, they spent the most time there.

I think some of the most fun was definitely whenever we have Magenta, Carmine, and Dr. Hedo in the same room trying to do something, whatever it is. Because they are all on such different wavelengths as brave brains at any given time……. And the interesting thing about the opening narration was that we wanted it to be a bit softer than Carmine’s normal voice. We didn’t want it to be as low as usual so it’s a bit more performative…… We had to make sure we nailed that, just like that, and I think we probably passed the most time on it.

They all have similar thoughts about how much fun they had during the whole process. Even though there were things that were difficult for them, they managed to overcome their difficulties together.

Synopsis of Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes

The ultimate androids created by the army – Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, will fight Piccolo and Gohan.
