Wesley Cook Bentley, American actor born September 4, 1978, is best known for his portrayals of Ricky Fitts in American Beauty (1999), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor, Seneca Crane in The Hunger Games. (2012), Doyle in Interstellar (2014) and Erik in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. He was one of four subjects in the 2009 documentary My Big Break, which explored his post-American Beauty fame and substance abuse issues. Early life

Bentley was the third of four unborn children of Cherie Baker and David Bentley. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, but spent his childhood in Little Rock. Both of his parents are active members of The United Methodist Church; her father is a pastor, while her mother is both a chaplain and an ordained elder of the Arkansas Conference. His ancestry goes back to Germany, Scotland and England.

He graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood, Arkansas in 1996.

He was a member of Group 29 of the Juilliard School’s Drama Division from 1996 to 2000.[8,] but he left school after just one year to pursue an acting career.


Bentley had starring roles in a number of films, including American Beauty, which was nominated for an Academy Award, The Four Feathers, P2 and Ghost Rider. He played the lead role in the thriller La Cadillac de Dolan, adapted from a short story written by Stephen King, as well as in the film There Be Dragons, directed by Roland Joffé. In the documentary My Big Break, directed by Tony Zierra, Bentley is one of the main subjects.
