Keep track before tapping into the multiverse
After writing an episode of rick and morty, Michael Waldron has been chosen by Marvel to create the first season of Loki (2021) and the man had the final project for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). “It’s just super stimulating. Every time we dip our toe into it, it can easily spin and get mind-blowing. You are just watching a story that has a million Ricks in it. You need to keep track of each one so you don’t get sloppy. I do not know. Good luck.”
Said Scott Marder while Dan Harmon had other things on his mind,
“For me, what sucks the most is having to remember that when we’re doing canonical stuff, it’s like, well, technically, aren’t there infinite evil Mortys, so ?”
Here we see the producer talking about the limitations one has to put on a certain character from a certain universe while opening up all the boundaries for all characters once the rift in the multiverse begins to expand. There could be infinite Mortys, infinite Ricks, a universe where they don’t exist, and, a universe where there’s nothing but them!
So the summary of advice was to keep track of your characters and pay attention to where the story takes place.
