At the forefront of pop culture right now, you can’t seem to turn away without hearing something about The Last of Us. Whether it’s the next TV adaptation on HBO or the remake of one of best games of 2013, and arguably one of the games of the generation, The Last of Us.
As controversial as the remakes are, The Last of Us Part I seems to be generating quite the buzz, with the game now revealing a launch trailer, ready for release on September 2.

As already said, the first game was released for PS3 in 2013. Awarded by fans and critics alike, it is considered one of the best PS3 games to date. Following Joel, a survivor of a world ravaged by the pandemic, who meets a young girl Ellie and tries to help her survive the harsh world around them.
“Joel, a grizzled survivor of a dangerous post-pandemic world, who slowly lost his sense of morality after the loss of his daughter, and Ellie, a young girl struggling to find true human connection, are forced together and must travel across the United States in search of false hope for the future of humanity.
In a story that would resonate with a lot of people after the past two years — though we don’t have any random click monsters walking around after COVID-19 — there’s a strong case for why it’s been remade. Actually another remake, as the game was “remastered” for PS4 in 2014. The story is unparalleled and almost ten years later still used as a benchmark against other games and their stories, the combat at the time felt immersive and intuitive, and the graphics pushed the PS3 to its limits upon release. Now, however, the graphics are outdated, the combat is far from modern, and the story is…well, the story is still emotional, heartbreaking, and fantastical.

The trailer will excite you or bore you
When it was announced, the top-to-bottom remake was met with controversy. Some fans were apparently annoyed that a game less than ten years old was getting a remake, and others rightly annoyed by the full price tag that was stuck on it. On the other side of the coin, many people are excited about a graphically updated and modernized game version of one of their favorite games.

The story of excessive remakes and remasters is becoming a regular discussion, with constant “updates” of older games being touted as an easy source of revenue by game developers, banking on the original’s love for drive sales with minimal effort. Take Grand Theft Auto V and Skyrim for example, two of the biggest authors of this trend, each with multiple remasters across multiple console generations. While not as bad as either of the two mentioned above, it’s understandable that fans are annoyed with the devs spending their time on remakes of games they have. still on their shelves when they could spend time making another installment of the franchise.
As you can see from the trailer above, there’s no doubt the game looks amazing, and compared to previous versions of the game, it’s night and day when it comes to quality. The only question now is whether the gameplay is different and improved enough to warrant another purchase.
Of course, this remake will also give many new fans their first foray into the universe, with HBO’s next broadcast next year in hopes of wide audiences, which will serve as a well-timed entry for many. .
