Ever since Marvel announced its next three phases, fans have been coming up with several theories as to what might happen in these upcoming phases and how events will unfold. Marvel announced Phase 4, Phase 5, and Phase 6, called The Multiverse Saga. The ongoing multiverse saga will end with Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Coming up with multiple theories becomes even easier when there are multiple comics available, providing a basic plot for the movies. However, as seen in previous films, Marvel may not follow the story exactly like in the comics, but it’s still helpful to lay the groundwork for what will happen in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

Introducing the Multiverse to the MCU

The concept of multiverse was introduced in 2016 by strange doctor and has been mentioned in many films and shows thereafter. Although the concept was introduced in strange doctorthe first season of Loki went further into the multiverse, with different timelines and a sacred timeline.

It was in this show that we also discovered Kang the Conqueror, also known as the One Who Remains. In Marvel comics, Kang is one of the greatest villains there is. He doesn’t have any superpowers. Kang, originally known as Nathaniel Richards, exists in the 30th century. He discovers Dr. Doom’s time travel technology.

The expected plot of Avengers: Kang Dynasty

Once Kang obtains the technology, he time travels to ancient Egypt and begins to rule as Rama-tut. Eventually, he gets bored and plans to time travel again. Traveling to different times provokes the creation of its variations.

There are several versions of Kang in the MCU. One of them is Immortus. Immortus is that version of Kang, who is bored of time travel, so the timekeepers advise him to deal with the Sacred Timeline, which was shown in Loki’s first season.

Considering this, a council of Kang was created and the Prime Kang with its two variants decided to take all the variants of Kang. After eliminating them all, Prime Kang also kills one of the two Kangs who were working with him.

He has been manipulating time so far, so that his main self becomes Immortus and creates a sacred timeline. A plot similar to this should be presented in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

At the end of Loki season 1 we saw that Sylvie kills Kang (The One Who Remains) and the final scene shows a statue of Kang at TVA. However, Kang’s appearance in the statue seems different from that of “The One Who Remains”. So, it is presumed that this Kang is ‘Kang the Conqueror’ which is even more dangerous.

Kang and his incarnations in the MCU

Kang has multiple incarnations in the MCU, including Iron Lad, Immortus, Kang the Conqueror, and Rama-tut. One of them was Scarlet Centurion, Nathaniel Richards, born in the 30th century of Earth 6311, a reality where humanity never entered the Dark Ages. As we’ve already seen a version of him in Loki Season 1, his entire origin story may appear in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

This Earth was brought away after centuries of advancement and warfare by a time traveler, from Earth 616, also known as Nathaniel Richards. He became known as the legendary benefactor.

The 30th century Nathanial Richards is said to be the descendant of this benefactor. Some resources also claim that he may also be the descendant of Dr. Victor Doom.

After being caught in a time storm and ending up on Earth 616, he meets his possible ancestor Dr. Doom and decides to leave his Rama-tut disguise behind and get one similar to Dr. Doom’s, naming him Scarlet Centurion.

Will Scarlet Centurion be in Avengers: Kang Dynasty?

As Scarlet Centurion, he manipulates the Avengers of Earth 616 and does horrible things across multiple timelines. Somehow, the Avengers manage to get things under control and defeat Scarlet Centurion.

Kang condemned his Scarlet version of the Centurion as a failure after that and regained his Rama-tut identity. This caused the creation of another Scarlet Centurion Divergent. This Scarlet Centurion ends up in alternate Earth 712 and becomes a successful conqueror.

Kang in Loki Season 1

After several years, he adopted the guise of Kang the Conqueror and fathered a son named Marcus Kang. According to the comics, he is Kang and Ravonna’s son in an alternate reality where Ravonna decided to stay with Kang. After a while, Kang does, and Ravonna, now known as Revelation, takes control of his empire.

Marcus continues to stay with his mother. But after meeting the future versions of his parents, Kang and Ravonna adopt him, he becomes Marcus Immortus. He helps his father and mother with their projects. He later adopted the identity of the Scarlet Centurion and kept it until his death.

Avengers: Kang Dynasty is the penultimate film, for the MCU’s Phase 6 finale, the film may be based on the Marvel comic book of the same name. This will unveil Kang’s backstory, and so we may also see Scarlet Centurion’s appearance in the MCU.

After appearing in Loki season 1, Kang will also appear in the next film Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania. The film will be released on February 17, 2023.
