Rather successful compared to the DCEU, the Arrowverse has been running since 2012. It started with the show Arrowwith Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and David Ramsey as John Digle. He finally saw the inclusion of Big Blue’s cousin in super girl played by Melissa Benoist.

Following the adventures of Superman’s cousin, Supergirl, the series ran for 6 seasons before not receiving a renewal. Many fans were left baffled by Superman’s absence until his appearance in the show’s second season. This appearance led to the spin-off show, Superman and Lois.
Superman and Lois don’t belong in the Arrowverse
Fans noticed the lack of any Arrowverse reference in the show, which made many suspect that the show was independent of the main universe. Some inconsistencies such as a different design of the Fortress of Solitude and a lack of CW heroes further added to the suspicion.

In the last episode of season 2, “Waiting for Superman” confirmed to separate existence from how as General Sam Lane father of Lois Lane said Superman was the only hero in their world as “He is the best in the land of ants.”
Different Supergirl to come back?
Since the end of super girl in Season 6, fans have been wishing to see Melissa Benoist reprise her role, and recent news suggests she may return in Superman and Lois. But as the series exist in different universes, we may not see the same Supergirl.
At the Canadian Fan Expo, Elizabeth Tulloch, who played Lois Lane on the show, explained that Covid is the reason the show featured crossovers, which could have allowed the show to exist independently. She also commented on Supergirl’s return, she said:
“She [Melissa Benoist] let me know of her interest in doing so…I know we would love to work with her and Grant again [Gustin] and all the others.

Although there is no official announcement of her return, the showrunner of Superman and Lois, Todd Helbing also commented on Supergirl’s return to The Flash Podcast. He said the Supergirl would be from his universe, with a different story, like John Diggle.
