Early life and family
Danielle Colby was born on December 3, 1975, in Iowa, USA to Sue Colby – Danielle has a sister named Carbomb Betty. The family was religious and devoted to Jehovah’s Witnesses, which led to Danielle being brought up with very specific ideas about right and wrong, especially when it came to body image and behavior. Despite this, when the family moved to Chicago, Danielle attended her first burlesque performance, a star-studded show featuring both esteemed dancer Satan’s Angel and comedian Margret Cho. What Danielle experienced there completely changed her impression of dance and self-expression and turned out to be a pivotal moment in her life.
Danielle Colby explained, “I came into that party thinking burlesque was taboo and wrong and wrong.
But what I realized after leaving that event was how absolutely liberating it was. Danielle also revealed that she was sexually abused as a child; her adherence to burlesque allows her to live as a survivor, not a victim, and to escape any lasting reluctance with regard to her body.
Career
Although Danielle has many accolades and accomplishments to her credit, it is very difficult to determine the exact dates of each of her activities. There is a general chronological order of events, but due to her strong personality and focus, she often has several things going on at the same time.
Fashion designer
Early in her career, Danielle worked as a designer for Gorilla Wear. Although she has no formal training in the industry, her love for fashion and her innovative spirit have allowed her to excel.

Although she eventually left Gorilla Wear, her love for clothes, especially vintage clothes, persevered and influenced her work as a picker.
Derby on wheels
Known for the aggressiveness and violence of this game, roller derby is a sport played on roller skates by opposing teams trying to score tricks. Danielle Colby was a trailblazer and played on her own team which was called “Big Mouth Mickies”, and led her team to victory in local championships, but was forced to give up the sport after three years when she injured her shoulder. This was not surprising, as the nature of the game means participants rarely last longer than three to five years. Many of her team members stuck with her as she branched out into new industries.
Burlesque
Danielle rekindled the love of dance she had discovered in her childhood, when she started working professionally as a burlesque dancer. She renamed herself ‘Dannie Diesel’, a nickname from her childhood, and founded her own group made up of nine other dancers, and fancifully calls themselves Burlesque le’Moustache. Despite the notoriety that burlesque dancing enjoys, Colby admits that being racy is usually the last thing on her mind: “What concerns me is my basic balance, my ability to breathe in an instant. It takes a long time to stand and pause. You reveal a lot of yourself…” Her love for this art form also extends to the historical aspect, and she is an avid collector of costumes. It has items that have been worn by iconic stars such as Josephine Baker and Mata Hari, a convicted German spy.
“The American Gatherers”
“American Pickers” premiered on the Discovery Channel on January 18, 2010. The show follows collectors of antiques and curiosities who travel across America to find and buy unique items. Although there was initially some pushback from the film crew when Colby first appeared on set, his longtime friend, avid picker and co-star Mike Wolfe, been able to arrange everything with the directors.
Although Colby longs for the life on the road, accompanying the gatherers in search of leads, she mainly remains at the store – Antique Archeology – of which she is now the manager. In her spare time, she stalks her own leads, with an eye and affection for vintage clothing.
Shop
In 2013, her experience on the Discovery Channel inspired her to open her boutique called 4 Miles 2 Memphis, offering retro and vintage clothing as her main selling point along with a few other curiosities and collectibles. However, later that same year, she announced on Facebook that due to financial pressures the store would have to close.
burlesque teacher
Danielle Colby wanted to spread her love of burlesque, so she opened her studio in 2014. Dannie Diesel’s Bump n’ Grind Academy aims to not only teach burlesque, but to help women celebrate their bodies and feel good about themselves. their skin. There were concerns about whether she would manage to run the studio in conjunction with the show, however, “American Pickers” stood by her and allowed her to set up a schedule that would allow her to film and run her studio. every fifteen days.

The two had met in 2011 through professional contacts, and the working relationship quickly turned into a romantic relationship. The relationship stayed well off social media, and the ensuing divorce was barely reported. Although Danielle now frequently appears alongside Jeremy Scheuch on social media, in poses that imply they are dating, she has not confirmed this.
Interests and tattoos
Danielle Colby’s interests are just as diverse as her professional activities, if not more. Many of them are documented on her body in the form of tattoos, which she describes as being “about death and love and the people I’ve lost.” With more than 30 tattoos, each symbolizing a different event, she says the ones on her hands are her favourites, referring specifically to those designed by her two children.
Danielle also has a tattoo of a fly on one forearm which represents her fascination with entomology. Although it may seem eccentric to some, it fits perfectly with his punk and rock interests.
Unlike many who have become famous, Danielle uses her platform to draw attention to charities and causes close to her heart. These include Bately Girls, an organization dedicated to helping victims of sex trafficking, and animal welfare organization PAWS.
