James Gunn has made a name for himself in Hollywood since Guardians of the Galaxy paved the way for his unique directorial style. Following the bad reception that Taika Waititi has Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) received, the former director blamed him for blowing Marvel’s budget for a failed film.

James Gunn reportedly called Taika Waititi an unprepared director

A Twitter user by the handle of @unbearably asked James Gunn when he started trusting the people around him for his movies.

“At what point in your career did you learn to relax and delegate to the experts you helped hire to make your films? So many directors seem to struggle with that.
The director took his time and answered the question with 3 hurtful but important topics that were necessary for some big name directors.
“I’m not sure ‘relax’ and ‘achieve’ are congruent terms, but as I grew I gained more and more people around me who I trust. – like my 1st AD Lars Winther my costume designer Judianna Makovsky. To varying degrees, I delegate to people I trust while supervising and guiding.”
Elaborating on his response, he continued:
“Directing is a privilege – we are so lucky to do it and there are so many talented people who want to do it. surround pisses me off endlessly.

Continuing the conversation, the director of the guardians of the galaxy the franchise blamed unfinished production values and disorganized scripts, and finally, it blamed unprepared directors for the failure of big-budget films with low ratings.
“If you saw how disorganized most productions are and how unfinished most scripts are on big movies at the start of filming (the biggest reason for the deteriorating quality of feature films in my opinion), you We’ll see why that’s usually not an option.”
“I would say that after shooting with unfinished scripts, unprepared directors are problem number two. It annoys me beyond measure that so many directors – not most, but many – waste time, and the talent of people walking on a set without knowing where they are going to put the camera.
As for James Gunn’s current status, the director has been busy promoting the upcoming Marvel franchise finale with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. The film is slated for a May 5, 2023 release date in theaters worldwide and will likely be James Gunn’s last film in the Guardians franchise.
