It’s not news that Warner Bros. is in the midst of brutal turmoil over his recent show of support for the Harry Potter author, JK Rowling following her tweets relating to the Salman Rushdie Chautauqua University incident. On top of everything else the studio has faced, the author who has been branded a transphobe is just another name in a long list of supporters contributing to the tragic decimation of WB’s reputation.

WB faces criticism for being anti-Semitic Harry Potter Plot of the game
In a new wave of controversy, studio Warner Bros. is under threat of a boycott from a faction of his fandom involved in the Harry Potter gaming world. Hogwarts Legacy. Set against the backdrop of the Harry Potter universe created by JK Rowling, the game explores the fantasy world as players are allowed to “to decide the fate” of the universe and are faced with tough choices at every turn, forcing the interactive platform to act towards “determine what they represent.”

However, in a section of the forthcoming game, titled “The Goblin Rebellion”, it exists “an oppressed race that rejects its own…slavery” which players will be allowed to face in an in-game battle. The problematic ideals in this particular section of the game lie in the depiction of goblins as a “anti-Semitic stereotype” according to a reviewer and reviewer.
Hogwarts Legacy Faced with new calls for a boycott
While the biases of creators and distributors of the wizarding world continue to pile up on worse allegations than each other, the accusation of anti-Semitism is only the most recent. Critic Kevin Rhodes, the movement’s initiator and most outspoken in the boycott call, says:
“The goblins in the Harry Potter series have long been criticized as offensive Jewish stereotypes. With reviews pointing out their control of the magical banking system, greed, and exaggerated facial features, this game where the player battles against greedy, child-abducting Jewish stereotypes, please, no Don’t buy this game. Stay away from both Rowling and the wizarding world. Don’t give any more money to Warner Brothers.

The movement has begun to gain some sway over mass opinion, with several players and people on Twitter posting and commenting on inappropriate cultural portrayals. As the public calls for a boycott of the Hogwarts Legacythe game’s official website and distributors have yet to make an official statement.
Hogwarts Legacy which explores a 19th-century setting of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the Forbidden Forest, is set to release February 10, 2023 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
