Kevin Holland, an American who practices mixed martial arts, fights in the welterweight division of the UFC. Since 2015, Kevin has been fighting like a job. He has fought for Bellator MMA, King of the Cage and Legacy Fighting Alliance since then.
Holland’s professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career began in 2015, after going 5-0 in amateur bouts. He participated in events like Legacy Fighting Championship, Xtreme Knockout and others.
Since the UFC star’s personal and family life isn’t as well-known as his professional life, we wanted to know more about them for this article.
Holland fought Thiago Santos at UFC 227 on August 4, 2018, which was his first UFC fight. His next match was on November 24, 2018 against John Phillips. In round three, he was able to finish the fight by putting his opponent to sleep with a rear naked choke.
Who is Kevin Holland?
Kevin is the only fighter in his family who is not in the UFC. Holland was primarily raised by his grandparents when he was young because his parents spent most of their time in prison.
Kevin was born in California, but lived with his grandmother and grandfather in Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario when he was young. Holland started learning martial arts when he was 16 years old. He admired Georges St-Pierre.

Holland went to high school in Los Osos and Chaffey College. He started learning martial arts at the age of 16 and admired Georges St-Pierre. After watching UFC 100 for the first time, he fell in love with the organization. Kevin Holland’s Mixed Martial Arts Career
Holland became a professional MMA fighter in 2015. He had a perfect 5-0 record in amateur fights. Before the UFC signed him, he fought in a number of promotions including Xtreme Knockout, Legacy Fighting Championship, King of the Cage, Bellator MMA and Legacy Fighting Alliance. He had a 12–3 record in those fights.[3]
In Season 9 of Dana White’s Contender series, Holland was one of the contestants. He fought Will Santiago on June 12, 2018 and won by unanimous decision. Holland was brought in to fight Thiago Santos at UFC 227, although he didn’t get a contract on the spot after his win. On August 4, 2018, Holland made his UFC debut against Thiago Santos at UFC 227. He lost because everyone was in agreement against him.
He fought John Phillips on November 24, 2018 at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Ngannou 2. He won the match by putting Phillips in a rear naked choke in the third round.
Holland and Gerald Meerschaert fought at UFC on ESPN 2 on March 30, 2019. He won the match in a tiebreaker.
At UFC Fight Night 154 on June 22, 2019, Holland fought Alessio Di Chirico. He won the match by unanimous decision.
Holland was supposed to fight Antônio Arroyo on UFC Fight Night: Bachowicz vs. Jacaré on Nov. 16, 2019. However, in late September, promotion officials changed Holland’s opponent to Brendan Allen for UFC on ESPN 6 on October 18, 2019. He lost by submission in the second round
Holland and Jack Marshman were supposed to fight at UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Edwards on March 21, 2020. However, UFC president Dana White said on April 9 that event had been moved. Holland fought Anthony Hernandez on May 16, 2020 at UFC on ESPN: Overeem vs. Harris. He beat Hernandez with a technical knockout in the first round.
Holland was supposed to fight Daniel Rodriguez on May 30, 2020 at UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Burns. But on May 26, Holland got injured and had to pull out of his fight with Rodriguez. Gabriel Green, newcomer to the promotion, took his place.
Holland was supposed to fight Trevin Giles at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan on August 1, 2020. But Trevin Giles passed out just before he left, so the match was called off.
Holland fought Joaquin Buckley on August 8, 2020 at UFC Fight Night 174. He won by technical knockout in the third round. He received the Performance of the Night trophy for this victory.
At UFC Fight Night 181 on October 31, 2020, Holland was supposed to fight Makhmud Muradov in place of injured Krzysztof Jotko. But Muradov had to drop out of the fight as he tested positive for COVID-19, and Charlie Ontiveros, who was new to the promotion, took his place. After an injured neck slam, Ontiveros verbally dropped out in the first round, giving the fight to Holland.
Holland was supposed to fight Jack Hermansson on December 5 at UFC on ESPN 19, but Darren Till had to drop out due to injury. On November 28, it was announced that Holland had been kicked out of the bout because she had tested positive for COVID-19.
The fight between Ronaldo Souza and Holland took place at UFC 256 on December 12, 2020. Holland won by knocking out his opponent in the first round. This made him the UFC fighter with the most wins in a single year.
At UFC on ESPN 21 on March 20, 2021, Holland fought Derek Brunson. He lost because everyone agreed against him.
Holland tied the record for shortest time between main events with his second main event in three weeks. Holland fought Marvin Vettori on April 10, 2021, in place of an injured Darren Till at UFC on ABC 2. Even though Holland occasionally hurt Vettori with punches, Vettori won most of the fight on the ground and Holland lost via unanimous decision. Later, with one fight left on his old contract, Holland signed a new contract for more fights.
At UFC Fight Night 193[53] on October 2, 2021, Holland fought Kyle Daukaus. During the first round of the fight, Holland was briefly knocked out in a one-on-one collision. Even though Holland kept fighting, he was quickly taken down with a rear-end choke. Referee Dan Miragliotta looked at the video again after viewing it and decided that the head collision started the chain of events that led to Daukaus’ victory. Thus, since the blow to the head was unintentional, the fight was called a “no contest”.
At UFC Fight Night 197 on Nov. 13, 2021, Holland and Daukaus were scheduled to fight again. But Holland pulled out of the race due to injury.
Holland fought Alex Oliveira at UFC 272 on March 5, 2022. It was Oliveira’s first fight in the welterweight division since October 2017. He won the fight via technical knockout in the second round, earning him the Performance of the Night trophy.
Holland fought Tim Means at UFC on ESPN 37 on June 18, 2022. In the second round, he won by submitting with a D’Arce choke. He earned his fifth Performance of the Night award for this win.
Holland will face Daniel Rodriguez at UFC 279 on September 10, 2022.
The private life of Kevin Holland
In October 2021, Holland caught someone who was supposed to have stolen a car from his neighborhood. Reports say Holland pursued the man and held him until police arrived.
Holland says he and his sparring partner ended a shooting at a restaurant in Houston, Texas, in March 2022. When the men were at a restaurant, they heard a gunshot and saw a man restrained by a passerby with a gun. Holland said he then put the shooter in a rear naked choke to keep him from moving.
Holland said in May 2022 he helped pull a driver out of an overturned tractor-trailer. Holland had seen the driver accelerate, then lose control as he pulled onto the freeway, down the hill and turned around. Holland got out of his car to pull the man out of the car, who was spitting a liquid that Holland said could cause an explosion.
Charlese Holland is Kevin Holland’s wife
From her Instagram name, it doesn’t appear that Charlese Holland and Kevin are related, and Kevin hasn’t posted anything about Charlese Holland on Instagram either.

As Wikipedia does not mention Kevin’s siblings, it is clear that his grandparents raised him alone. Also, his siblings don’t talk to him on social media.
