The beauty and the Beast Star Luke Evans insists the planned Disney Plus series is still in development despite the delays.
In early 2020, it was revealed that a new The beauty and the Beast The series was in development for Disney Plus. The series would be a prequel to the 2017 remake of the same name and would focus on Luke Evans’ Gaston and Josh Gad’s Le Fou. Unfortunately, the development of the series has been incredibly slow.
For a while it seemed that the The beauty and the Beast the prequel series would occur. It seemed to be moving forward in mid-2021, but something happened behind the scenes. In early 2022, it was revealed that Disney had shelved the planned series. It appears to have been delayed for a number of reasons, including scheduling issues, creative differences, and the fact that most of the cast wouldn’t be available if production was pushed back. Now star Luke Evans has confirmed some of that.
