Thor and The Suicide Squad Star Idris Elba has said playing James Bond is not a career goal for him.
Last year, the last James Bond film, no time to die release in theaters worldwide. Despite being released when the Covid-19 pandemic was at its peak, the film still managed to earn over $774 million worldwide. It was also the last film to feature Daniel Craig’s version of the character.
Since no time to die Released in theaters, the question has been who will reprise the role of James Bond. One of the popular choices for the role was Idris Elba who has since stated that he will not be reprising the role. Now, he’s seemingly doubled down on that by stating that playing Bond isn’t even a career goal for the actor.
Why Idris Elba isn’t interested in the role
During a recent appearance on Lebrun James’ The Shop podcast, Idris Elba said playing the character wasn’t a goal for him, but everyone seemed to think it was a good fit.
“I’m not going to lie, every corner of the world I go to – and I’m talking about different cultures – they always say, ‘Bond!’ It’s not a goal for my career. “I don’t think, you know, playing Bond will satisfy some of my personal goals.”
