Tony Stark 2008
We have already seen an alternate storyline with almost the same plot in What if…? Season 1. In this episode, we saw Kill Monger save Tony Stark from being held captive by the terrorist organization.
Kill Monger used Tony to his advantage and ultimately killed him. Since Tony was never injured in the bombing by terrorists, it never occurred to him to create an arc reactor or metal suit to become Iron Man.
But what we are going to talk about here is a different case. There are many theories about how Tony Stark would have contributed to the MCU if he wasn’t Iron Man.
Tony Stark Was Way More Important To The MCU Even Before He Got The Iron Man Suit
Stark was a billionaire and a genius. This means he had the knowledge to build and run anything, and also had the money to fund that vision. So those two abilities themselves make him less vulnerable to anything in the world.
Throwback to 2008, with a twist!!!
Tony Stark leaves to present his new missile to the army. He was the weapons expert who handled sales only to the United States Army. Only this time, Obadiah accompanied Tony Stark and the Army to see the presentation himself.
The plan was to get caught by the terrorists alongside Tony so that no evidence could be traced back to him for this plot. And that is exactly what happened! The terrorists attacked Tony and he was injured in the heart. Abdias staged a fake capture for himself and they were taken to the cave.
While Obadiah rested in the camera room, Tony was under Yinsen’s medical supervision. Tony blindly trusted Obadiah, as he is the last man he knows who worked with his father. The first thing he asked when he woke up was,
“Where is Obadiah? I don’t want those terrorists killing him to extract all the information about the weapons I designed. I need to talk to Obadiah. Bring him to me in this cell.
And then a group of terrorists come to Tony Stark and make their request. The terrorists plan to get a bunch of new missiles designed by Tony Stark. Tony Stark was convinced that he would not manufacture these missiles even if the terrorists rained fire on him.
But, Tony was unaware of the fact that it was Obadiah who had plotted it all. As part of the plan, Tony was threatened with Obadiah’s death, if he fails to deliver what the terrorists want.
Tony cared about Obadiah because he mentored him on the proper way to run Stark Industries, after his father. Thus, he did not want to let Obadiah die because of his stubbornness in not giving up his father’s lifelong work. He had a plan and wanted to execute it with Obadiah by my side.
Tony then asked, “If you want me to do things, then I want Obadiah by my side here. There are a few technical details he is aware of. Send it!
The terrorists said, “You are not able to make requests here!”
Tony then said,
“Okay, so go ahead and kill me and Abdias completely. Without me, you will never be able to create or use any of my missiles. The ones you are currently using have free authorization sanctioned by me after selling these units. I have a mole in my company, and I want to know who! And that’s why I want to get out alive. But, if you don’t want to stand firm on my demands, you can kill me, because then it won’t matter anymore.
Tony and Obadiah worked together
While Obadiah had evil plans to take over Stark Industries completely, Tony blindly trusted him. He said to Obadiah,
“Obadiah, I’m thinking of something weird and impossible from now on. I want to create a miniature version of the arc reactor that’s used to power our entire operational building.
Obadiah says:But, what do you plan with that, Tony? Obadiah was now curious to know. Even though he had a microphone on for the terrorists to listen to all of their conversations, Obadiah waved at the camera to ignore what Tony had just said.
Tony then said, “I plan to make a weapon as the terrorists want. But it will be different and more powerful to help us get out of here and kick a**.
The background music then plays and Tony begins to work on his project, alongside Obadiah and Yinsen. The only difference is that he named this project Iron Monger Mark I. Obadiah sees Tony’s rough plan and was quite happy to trick him into doing something so powerful.
Tony has now almost finished his costume and calls Obadiah to chat. They talked about the miniature arc reactor that Tony built to protect his heart from the shards of metal the explosion threw into his body. Amazingly, this time he didn’t configure the suit to work on the Arc Reactor connected to his body, but on an entirely different part of the Arc Reactor.
The reason was that he suggested Obadiah wear the suit and guide Tony and Yinsen to escape. Obadiah asks out of curiosity, “It’s your costume, your idea. So why aren’t you the one wearing this costume to get us all out? »
Tony replies, “My father made thousands of innovations for the military, for good people, but he never used any of them to possess the power he shouldn’t. His only superpower was his knowledge, and I’m more than happy to carry on that legacy.
Obadiah’s plan fails
And that was when Abdias was getting ready to step into the costume. He was not afraid that terrorists would break in and prevent him from carrying out the plan, because he was the one who controlled everything around this terrorist prison.
While Tony was setting up the suit for him, he activated the launch sequence to load the suit’s weapon systems and other operations. He had communication devices ready for the three of them to stay in touch while Obadiah heads for the exit and clears the way.
While setting the frequency of the communication device in the suit, he encountered a frequency which indicated that there was an existing radio communication frequency in motion. He couldn’t figure out what could have gone wrong, but then he turns to Abdias and sees him plugging in his earpiece with an evil smile on his face.
Tony just stood still for the moment while Obadiah pulls a gun on him. The terrorists were called by him and they surrounded Tony and Yinsen.
Obadiah then said,
“You have outdone yourself, Tony. Look what you’ve built! Now all I want is to taste its power. You programmed it for me, so it’s my right to use it and pass it on to the world of terror and blame Stark Industries for your father.
“I wished to own Stark Industries after your father died. But what I got was just the opportunity to be interim CEO, until you got old to take it over. I envied your dad for having so many things in life but wasting it on just the military. I bring endless earning opportunities to Stark Industries. Don’t worry! I will always keep your dad’s promise. has done to this country. For that, I will not only sell this Iron Monger to terrorists, but also to the military. I will start a world war! The more weapons we sell, the more profitable we will be.” Obadiah added to his monologue.
Tony replied “Dad trusted you!” I trusted you! You can’t do without it. You never will!
Obadiah replies, “Now that I have your research and have seen you do this marvel in a cave, your hired scientists will help me reproduce and multiply it.”
Tony bursts out laughing and says: “You took off your father figure mask Abdias too soon. At least you should have asked me how to use this machine I made. If you heard by this little earphone you had from the beginning, I told your terrorist friends that none of my weapons or innovations are accessible without my will. Do you think the prototype I built here for you is free to order? Kill your way!
Obadiah became furious with Tony and punched him in the face. Yinsen stood next to the computer and had to press a single button to start the programming sequence for the suit that was all stacked up to equip it. Tony motioned for her to initiate the code and be ready.
Remember when Tony said he was creating a separate power source for the suit, and not using the one mounted on his chest? He changed his plans at the last moment to not let Obadiah wear the suit but to operate it remotely. This way, if the plan fails and the suit explodes, there should be no casualties.
Tony uses knowledge instead of power
Billionaire and genius, Tony Stark used his wits to initiate the remote operations of his Iron Monger suit and engaged him with weapons. He programmed the suit not to attack Obadiah, Yinsen and him. Iron Monger was ruthless and he killed almost everyone in the room and the building, while Tony wanted to inform Obadiah of the big mistake he had made.
While Tony returned with Yinsen to live his regular life, Obadiah was later arrested by the military after Tony brought this incident to the world. Tony never wore the suit and made it for himself. Instead, he created AI suits to protect the world and make it a better place.
He created Avengers and became the mastermind behind all their actions. He created an army of Iron Mongers to defend this world and made his weapons program inaccessible to the public or government organizations.
