Elon Musk’s recent comments that openly criticize the new The The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is quite a trending topic on Twitter, much like all of his opinions. While there may be people who agree with Musk’s opinion, Neil Gaiman turns out to be an exception.
The tech billionaire, with a net worth of over $250 billion, criticized the way the show’s male characters were written, saying “Almost all the male characters so far are either cowards, jerks, or both. Only Galadriel is brave, smart, and kind. in a tweet that amassed over 129.6k likes. Musk’s judgment of the series, however, didn’t sit too well with Gaiman.

Neil Gaiman’s epic response to Musk’s tweet
The author of The sand man is pretty straight forward on what he thinks of Musk’s tweet when asked by a fan, and Gaiman dropped a huge bombshell with his response on Twitter.
The 61-year-old’s tweet comes after fans of the original trilogy, and JRR Tolkien outright criticized rings of power, accusing the show of being vastly different from the source material of Tolkien’s appendices and LOTR novels.

The angry crowd of fans are not on Gaiman’s side mostly because they feel like he supports the show to have a diverse cast, which they think is “not precise lore”, and frankly that’s pretty racist.
Musk’s focus on Tolkien “turning in his grave” is a marker of how he is part of the group that also dislikes the series. Neil Gaiman isn’t a big fan of Musk’s opinion, though-
Elon Musk doesn’t come to me for advice on how not to buy Twitter, and I don’t come to him for movie, TV, or literature reviews. https://t.co/WpyXhQlqIh

The tweet has been doing the rounds of the internet, and it’s absolutely hilarious because Gaiman has nothing to do with the new LOTR adaptation.

It seems Neil Gaiman’s tweet has annoyed Elon Musk fanboys. There were hundreds of well-liked tweets on the Twitter feed following Gaiman’s tweet about Musk’s opinion, and the majority of them aren’t on the Coraline writer’s side.

Who are you?
—Killernation (@Killernation) September 7, 2022
This person has no idea that Gaiman, just like us, has nothing to do with the show-
Neil, your Lord of the Rings material is just embarrassing. Like, good lord wtf. It’s basically neck and neck with what Many Saints of Newark did to the Sopranos. Simply awful.

While it’s kind of funny to see a plethora of people fussing over Gaiman’s tweet, the author finally hilariously responded to one of them-
I am really sorry. I took your hurt to heart and promised that I would never do Lord of the Rings-based television for any network ever again. https://t.co/pZrFFuwjHh

rings of power however, received many good reviews from critics despite Musk’s small review and bizarre Twitter feud with Gaiman. Musk’s comments, on the other hand, added no value to the conversation rather than inciting racist fanboys to justify their hatred towards the TV show’s diverse cast.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
