Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom saw another delay after the difficulties it faced during the COVID era. Undergoing massive reshoots after the whole debacle with Amber Heard and the decision to give Ben Affleck even more screen time than originally planned, the sequel has seen a rollercoaster of responses from the day it was announced.
What started with a small petition to remove Amber Heard from the film led to WB minimizing her screen time. Fans weren’t happy with the response and wanted it removed completely, however, that wasn’t to be the case.

From COVID reshoots to rewrites; Aquaman sees another push
Ben Affleck’s role, which was just a guest appearance at first, quickly grew into a bigger role, probably as big as a supporting character rather than a single guest appearance. Perhaps in an attempt to distract from the actress herself, Jason Momoa’s film continues to create obstacles for each other.
Reliable sources, who first revealed Henry Cavill’s return to black adam said the movie would see more Batman. The rewrites are only meant to fit in with the DCEU’s 10-year vision. What we can see from black adam itself would only be followed by the tone given in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Planning for Aquaman
The role was originally intended to be Michael Keaton’s Batman, but we can see that Ben Affleck would replace him in the role and with more than just a post-credits scene. However, there has been no news of Amber Heard’s Mera, how long she has on screen, or if she still has a role in the film. It has yet to be confirmed if Mera’s character will be phased out altogether or if the actress will be replaced instead.
The fans themselves want to know his fate, seeing how the length of the film would increase. The various petitions to remove Heard from the film and the franchise itself have had a huge impact on the DCEU and audiences.
The DCEU sees a change in game plan
The 10-year plan that WB is building with DC seems to start with black adam, followed by heavy film programming; Shazaam! Fury of the gods, Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Blue Beetle, are everything seems to be part of it. See Henry Cavill’s next cameo in black adam Returning as an iconic Superman character, Ben Affleck has also made a name for himself in the franchise as the main universe’s Batman.
Playing the trusted leader of the Justice League, Affleck’s Batman will soon be seen helping Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in the upcoming film after another inevitable delay.
