Early life

Sterling “Steelo” Brim is one of Tracy and Frank Brim’s four children. Her father was a Chicago Fire Department battalion chief, while her mother is a Christian pastor. Sterling and his siblings therefore grew up in a very religious family. Details about his two brothers and one sister are unknown.

Living in West Chicago, Sterling’s father formed a baseball team and included his son in it, who became widely known for his skill as a player. This led to his debut in the entertainment world when he landed a small role in the 2001 movie ‘Hardball’: “I started to be ranked in Illinois as the number one baseball player , so they called me with the kids because I was actually good at baseball.

Sterling attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School until matriculation, when he pursued graduate studies at Morgan State University. Information about him is unknown and it is unlikely that he graduated, as he moved to Los Angeles when he was 19 years old.

Career

First steps

Sterling moved to Los Angeles in search of opportunities in the music industry. Whether he ever released his own music is unclear, although he found a place in the industry working in radio. He also joined the A&R (artist and repertoire) division of Atlantic Record, which was in charge of finding talent for the famous label. Supposedly, it was around this time that he adopted the name “Steelo”.

At some point, Steelo started working with Chris “Drama” Pfaff at the production company Fantasy Factory, where he met professional skateboarder and businessman Rob Dyrdek: “(he) was hanging out in our sessions all the time. in the studio and just the kick”. I used to always make jokes, warm people up all day, but I never thought about it.

Steelo definitely left a good impression on Dyrdek, who one day offered to do a show with him. Although Steelo accepted the proposal, he didn’t give it much thought for months until Dyrdek contacted him again: “He called me one day and said, ‘I’m sorry to been so busy, but this show, I want you to do… we start filming tomorrow.’ I had never been on TV. We filmed the pilot and I spoke about three times. I was scared as hell.

steel edge

Apparently MTV didn’t think Steelo was needed for “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” but Dyrdek trusted his abilities to host the show: “They didn’t think they needed me and he said to them: ‘Trust me, yes’.” He had a chat with me and told me to be the Sterling he knows. Not only did I end up helping with filming, but I helped structure the show. I also get real production credit on the show.

The show aired from 2009 to 2015, although Steelo also appeared in other productions during this time.

Ridiculous

In 2011, Steelo joined the cast of “Ridiculousness”, the TV show he co-hosts with Rob Dyrdek and Chanel West Coast. The show is centered around posting and reacting to the funniest videos on the internet.

Steelo admitted that a lot of things he said aren’t shown on screen: “I say so many things on the show that can’t be aired.” (…) ‘…because I’m so vulgar and I don’t care. I will say what I mean.

The show also has guest celebrities reacting to the videos, with audience favorites being Lil’ Jon, Riff Raff and Mac Miller. The latter left a good impression on Steelo: “He was just organically funny. I don’t think he’s seen any music videos before, he was just really funny and he was stoned.

“Ridiculousness” is still active, having aired for 17 seasons.

Actor and other productions

After a decade without acting work, in 2011 Steelo starred as Ulysses Williams in the short film “Orange Drive”.

The following year, he was cast in the TV series “Wild Grinders” as Meaty and made a minor appearance in “Teenage Mountain Lion” in 2014.

After “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” ended, Steelo voiced Graham in the “NBA 2K17” video game and starred in the shorts “Scream: Killer Party” and “About The People.”

Although his acting career is still thriving, he has definitely made a name for himself as a television personality, for a variety of appearances on shows such as ‘How to Bake It in Hollywood’, ‘Basic Math Day One” and “Amazingness”.

In 2015, he appeared in an episode of “Fantasy Factory”, and once hosted “Uncorked”. His last TV appearance was as a panelist on an episode of “The Great Debate” in 2020, and he also has a podcast with Chris Reinacher called “Wine and Weed.”

Private life

Romantic relationship

Steelo Brim had a long-lasting romantic relationship with British businesswoman Conna Walker, owner of fashion brands House of CB and Mistress Rocks. It’s unclear exactly when the pair started dating, although it’s certainly known that they had been together for several years.

In 2019, they surprisingly deleted their photos posted together on their social media accounts, sparking rumors of a possible breakup. Although neither of them confirmed the separation, in July 2020, Conna Walker posted numerous photos on her Instagram stories, celebrating her first anniversary with her new boyfriend, name withheld.

Steelo Brim is currently single, never married and has no children.

Sexual abuse allegations

In 2015, Steelo Brim was charged with sexually assaulting porn actress Mary Jean Vargas, following statements made by her to the New York Police Department.

Steelo and Vargas were together in his car in Central Park when the alleged assault took place: “He just starts hitting me, he tries to punch me in the face, he hits my breasts in the hardest way I can. I’ve never been hit, and I ‘I’m driving and I can’t defend myself’.

Steelo Brim has denied the charges, saying Vargas’ words were nonsense and that she threatened to charge him with rape while they were in his car, which caused him to jump out, injuring his arm in the process.

However, Vargas insisted his words were true: “It’s not a play. It’s something that happened, and it hurts. And he changes everything and tries to play the victim.

I was physically assaulted. He makes me feel like I’m wrong.”

nephew’s death

In 2017, Steelo’s three-year-old nephew drowned in the pool at his Los Angeles home. Following a report made by the TMZ portal, the kid apparently wandered alone in the morning and fell into the pool without his parents noticing. The child was taken away immediately by the paramedics after being found, but unfortunately it was already too late and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Steelo mourned the unfortunate and sad event, saying, “Last weekend my beloved nephew passed away in a tragic accident.” He will be greatly missed and we ask for prayers and privacy during this time of mourning.
