If you came to me and told me in 2015 that a live adaptation of Neil Gaiman The sand man would be available to watch on our cell phones of all things, I would laugh in your face and go on with my day. But here we are, Gaiman’s work is up and running on Netflix as a TV show in its own right.
The sand man made its live-action debut as a television series last month, and it has received nothing but praise from critics and fans alike. While it’s thriving on its success, fans are also eager to know when a second season will be available, and one of its creators is optimistic about getting this season more.

“Cautiously optimistic” for season 2 of The Sandman
Neil Gaiman’s Sand seller debuted in unforgettable fashion, with the first (and only season available so far) earning a lot of viewers.
The TV series already topped Netflix’s Top 10 titles just three days after its release on August 5, 2022, earning up to 69.5 million hours of viewing. It became the most-watched TV show on the streaming platform, albeit for a brief period of just six days.
Despite what the enemies would say, what The sand man did is no easy task at all, and because of its success, fans just want more.

For fans eagerly awaiting a second season, here’s a nice little update on that from the show’s VFX supervisor to shine a ray of hope in your face. Ian Markiewicz spoke to Screen Rant about the optimism of other creators who also have their hopes for a second season-
“We’re all cautiously optimistic… I think at this point the show has worked out the way it has, we’re pretty confident with that, we also understand there’s a lot that goes into this decision… we want to be able to do our best, so I think we look at it as an investment to say, ‘We hope this goes forward, we hope we’re able to do this again, and if we’re in that position, we want to be in a place where we feel like we’re using the available time in the best way we see fit”.
Markiewicz further concluded his statement by saying “It’s still totally speculative”.
We can only cross our fingers and hope that a second season is renewed. So please Netflix, give us this good news ASAP!

It’s great to see a lot of people rallying behind the TV show in pushing for a second season renewal, and we all agree. Netflix needs to realize that it can’t pass up such an opportunity, especially when the demand is so high.
