In February 2020, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison after a Manhattan jury found him guilty of rape and assault. He was later extradited to California to face multiple other charges and is due in court on October 10, 2022.

His confrontation with The Sopranos star wasn’t the only time he managed to upset a Hollywood personality. James Cameron admitted vanity lounge in a 2017 article how the two clashed over their opposing views and nearly broke out in a fight in the middle of the 1998 Oscars – “I almost remember getting into a fight with Harvey Weinstein and hitting him with my Oscar. It was on the ground floor of the [theatre]… People around us were saying, ‘Not here! Not here!’.”

Recently, Kevin Smith also claimed that Weinstein was sitting on the rights to his religious comedy film, Dogma by “hold him hostage” which had essentially made the film a lost movie status in the current era of streaming.
