Idris Elba absent from the James Bond Race

Wherever Idris Elba went, journalists and fans often asked him about rumors that he would be cast as the next James Bond. The actor always dismissed the question because it was not one of his goals to achieve. In a recent conversation with Variety, Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. “The thing is, it’s going to take a few years. And when we launch Bond, it’s a commitment of 10, 12 years. So he’s probably like, ‘Do I really want this thing? Not everyone wants to do that. It was hard enough to convince Daniel Craig to do it. And he was in his thirties at the time!

The producer duo stating a criteria like a minimum of 10-12 years of engagement would make any actor think twice before accepting. Idris Elba, 50, will find it difficult to commit to the role of James Bond for 10 years as the role is physically and mentally demanding. Henry Cavill can now win the James Bond Race

Henry Cavill and Idris Elba were the two fan-favorite choices to play the next James Bond. Since Idris Elba wasn’t interested anyway, people turned to the Steel man actor as a new beacon. “No one is in the running. We are looking for where to go with him, we talk about it. There’s no script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next movie because, really, it’s a Bond reimagining. We are reinventing who he is and that takes time. I would say that the shooting is in at least two years.

It looks like Barbara Broccoli doesn’t have Henry Cavill in mind for the role or the decision isn’t finalized or official yet. Right now, we know that Idris Elba isn’t interested in playing the character of James Bond, which means the throne is up for grabs for anyone who might be interested in a decade-long deal.
