The actor always dismissed the question because it was not one of his goals to achieve. In a recent conversation with Variety, Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have revealed some criteria they want for the next MI-6 agent, which has made Idris Elba an ineligible entrant in the race for the next James Bond.

“The thing is, it’s going to take a few years. And when we launch Bond, it’s a commitment of 10, 12 years. So he’s probably like, ‘Do I really want this thing? Not everyone wants to do that. It was hard enough to convince Daniel Craig to do it. And he was in his thirties at the time!
The producer duo stating a criteria like a minimum of 10-12 years of engagement would make any actor think twice before accepting. Idris Elba, 50, will find it difficult to commit to the role of James Bond for 10 years as the role is physically and mentally demanding. But as the door closes on Idris Elba (although he never wanted it), another door opens for the beloved Henry Cavill to take another step in the race for the next James Bond.
Henry Cavill can now win the James Bond Race
Henry Cavill and Idris Elba were the two fan-favorite choices to play the next James Bond. Since Idris Elba wasn’t interested anyway, people turned to the Steel man actor as a new beacon. Henry Cavill, although he has never openly admitted to any of the rumors, the role would suit a man of his professional experience as he has a range of characters attached to his name.
