Finally reprising the role of Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter SoldierAnthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will be at the forefront of Captain America: New World Order. This will be the first Captain America film to not feature Chris Evans as the main character.

Also starring Danny Ramirez as Falcon and Shira Haas as Sabra, the movie should be global with the plot. According to the filmmakers’ promotional campaign, Captain America will face more complicated issues than ever before.
The Legacy of Chris Evans
Becoming one of the original Avengers, Chris Evans portrayed the tenacious Steve Rogers in MCU. We’ve seen him join the Avengers in later films and fight several villains, including Loki, Ultron, Red Skull, and Helmut Zemo.

But the biggest threat the character faced was Thanos, who was the main villain of two Avengers films and ended with Steve Rogers’ retirement as Captain America. In the last minutes of End of Gamethe character was seen giving his shield to Sam Wilson, signaling a new era of superheroes.
Will we see Steve Rogers in Secret Wars?
One question that has been asked many times is whether Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers. Despite his confirmed departure, rumors continue to swirl about the actor’s return, now in Secret Wars. Anthony Mackie commented on the discussion in an interview with E! News, he said:
“Chris is so far from Marvel… Like, Marvel isn’t even in his radius. He is so far away. He enjoys life. He’s like an old retired guy.

Avengers: Secret Wars should be a big crossover event with lots of MCU characters taking part. Originally in the Secret Wars comics it was Steve Rogers as Captain America, but movies can obviously take creative liberties.

Given Chris Evans’ emotional departure from the MCU, it would be a slap in the face for many fans to see him return to Avengers: Secret Wars. As MCU continues to move forward, it would be interesting to watch new stories rather than telling the story of its founders.
Captain America: New World Order will be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
