Dragon House Stars Milly Alcock and Emily Carey finally made their exits in last week’s episode five, but there has been speculation they could return despite the recast. Both actors played crucial roles in the series, as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, respectively, and were praised for delivering a very compelling performance.
Although the prequel series is already moving forward with older versions of these characters, it’s still possible that young Rhaenyra and Alicent will appear on screen. After the shocking events of episode 5 during the marriage of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon, the relationship between the princess and the queen was severed following certain discoveries.

House Of The Dragon Deleted Scenes Used As Flashbacks
During the 10-year time jump that has occurred, which now includes Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, many events have presumably taken place. Even though Alcock and Carey are no longer on the show after the time jump, that doesn’t mean they’ll never appear on screen again.
Deleted scenes from the wedding of Alicent and King Viserys I Targaryen have resurfaced, and some footage showed Rhaenyra and Alicent in the middle of a feud. Other photos also showed them sharing tender moments of friendship as the Princess helped the Queen prepare for her wedding day.
These omitted scenes could be used to project flashbacks and reinforce the narrative of a once-strong friendship torn apart by circumstance. As the story progresses and the rift between Rhaenyra and Alicent ensues, flashbacks of scenes from their youth showing how close they were will help drive a more compelling and touching plot.

Why the series must bring young Rhaenyra and Alicent
Alcock confirmed in an interview that there have been talks of introducing the younger versions to the show, though she’s unsure how and when that will happen. While this remains a rumor, it leaves room for possibility. It is indeed a good decision if the showrunners decide to do so given how much Alcock and Carey are beloved by fans.
It’s good to show bits of the good old days to contrast the growing rivalry between Rhaenyra and Alicent. As the story progresses towards the disturbing Dance of the Dragons, the two will do anything to fulfill their duties, even if it means breaking their friendship.
Flashbacks aside, Dragon House may use several scenes from George RR Martin’s book, Fire & Bloodto incorporate into the story and rewind any moments shared by Rhaenyra and Alicent in the past that weren’t included in the first five episodes.
