The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard drama was uncomfortable, unnecessary in the public eye, and most importantly, a power struggle between two public figures trying to tarnish the other’s reputation while barely saving their own. The case was one of an unhealthy and abusive relationship spiraling out of control when a superficially accusatory statement made by Amber Heard in an op-ed caused Johnny Depp to lose virtually everything. The next 4 years were a sine wave of humiliating public lawsuits and rising online anger.

Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard: The start of the 2nd trial
The Johnny Depp v Amber Heard lawsuit, which began with its emotional and legal proceedings, had deserved an end. The June 1 verdict which ruled in favor of Johnny Depp in the defamation case had been met with massive cries of triumph online – whether good over evil is still debatable. However, the Celebrity Trial of the Century has received enough publicity to trigger a public message about male victims of abuse and violence who now have a voice.

The highly publicized and televised courtroom drama between the two Hollywood supporters had been pushed to not be the jury but the verdict of public opinion. Johnny Depp’s decimated reputation was restored while Amber Heard’s was stripped. The need to satiate the maintenance of their public image served as fuel to the fire that was already raging. So the case would of course not be solved for the losing party. Amber Heard’s appeal against the June 1 verdict will now pave the way for the second round of the defamation trial.

Mass opinions are still divided on the label aggressor vs victim
One of the main proponents of the Depp vs. Heard libel lawsuit was the labels attached to actors for being either an aggressor, a victim, or both. Accusations were often deftly thrown at calling the two sides “mutual aggressors”. Anyway, it started with a headliner on The Sun calling Depp a “wife beater”. The defamation case, which was decided by a judge in 2020, found him guilty of assault, and he lost the case against News Group and Dan Wootton.

This, later, played out in Twitter speeches and online war of words when the April 2022 trial began. Currently, Amber Heard is preparing to appeal the verdict of the latest trial which has sparked a campaign of hate and hostility on social media against both sides. While one faction claims a female victim’s voice is being suppressed by the most powerful and socio-economically superior male abuser, another faction is determined to smear Heard’s name for putting on a show and being the master manipulator.
With the Aquaman Ongoing actress appeal, Johnny Depp fans who had mostly backed down after the climactic battle, are now taking to Twitter to defend Depp and whittle down Amber Heard’s supporters.
Supporting Johnny Depp instead of Amber Heard doesn’t mean you’re betraying women.
By supporting Amber Heard, you are strengthening a system that continues to abuse and ignore male victims and survivors of domestic violence.
Find out. Do better. Spread awareness.

Thanks! 🙏🏼 This is so true! How can a survivor move forward when the media keeps trying to change the narrative 🤦🏻♀️ Then try to suppress those who took the time to watch, know they are complicit in her lies! So attack our intelligence by speaking up for a victim 🤦🏻 ♀️

I don’t think GPs ignore domestic violence against men I believe domestic violence is not gender related, it happens to men, women and children, the only difference is an adult can s away a child can’t 🤔 children also get caught up in domestic violence at home

Well said 👍 they can throw away all this bs misogyny all they want we don’t all hate women we just hate women who falsely accuse men! As simple as that

The male versus female discourse in this celebrity lawsuit took center stage while debating the abused versus abuser label. While misogyny was a pervasive theme throughout the presentation of the confident defendant, the court should also be credited for its thorough review of the evidence gathered. The editorial was indeed defamatory and that is what Depp was rewarded with, not his or Heard’s alleged abuse.
