Filled with a star-studded cast, don’t worry darling was released to great expectations. Set in the 1950s, the film follows the life of a couple who go to live in a utopian experimental community, but disturbing secrets unfold as the woman goes on a fact-finding mission.

Mired in controversy due to casting issues, the film stars Harry Styles and Florence Pugh in the lead role along with other great actors such as Chris Pine and Nick Kroll. Still stuck in controversy, the film premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival to mixed reception.
Dramas on the set of Don’t Worry Darling
Despite the interesting plot and talented cast, don’t worry darling became known for a different reason, it was conflicts on set. The drama began with the casting of Shia Labeouf who was originally set to play the lead role but left the production for conflicting reasons.

While Shia Labeouf maintained he left at his discretion, Olivia Wilde claimed he was fired. A video posted later showed Olivia Wilde expressing her interest in wanting to work with Shia Labeouf. She said in the video:
“I feel like I’m not ready to let go of this yet, and I too am heartbroken and want to figure this out. You know, I think that might be a bit of a red flag. for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re ready to give it a shot with me, with us.
“Miss Flo” could be a reference to Florence Pugh, who also faced Olivia Wilde. Numerous reports of the two clashes have emerged, with some suggesting they had a “screaming match” on the tray.
Off set, the controversy continued as Florence Pugh was not present for much of the promotion, although many suggested the reason for her absence was due to her role in Dunes: part two.
WB-Discovery still wants to work with Olivia Wilde?
One decision that surprised many is WB-Discovery’s assurance that Olivia Wilde has a future with the studio. This confirmation comes after the heavy negative critical reception of don’t worry darling. As Warner Bros. executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy told Page Six in a statement.
“We are so proud of the work Olivia Wilde has done to make this incredibly beautiful and entertaining film and we look forward to collaborating with her again.”

Many reviewers noted that the film’s direction and plot were lackluster, while Florence Pugh’s acting in particular was the best part. don’t worry darling sits at a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment.

Recently, the studio has been on a wave of cancellations, dropping near-completed projects like bat girl for the sake of quality. Warner Bros also parted ways with Zack Snyder because many of his films didn’t receive positive reviews. The decision to stay with Olivia Wilde therefore seems rather strange.
