Mahershala Ali Is Disappointed With Marvel’s Slow Blade Reboot

Along with announcing the movie, Kevin Feige also introduced Mahershala Ali as Blade. Fans were thrilled to see the actor as Blade. The actor also shared his excitement for the film. However, recent developments related to the movie have reportedly left the actor frustrated.

Jeff Sneider of The Ankler shared a tweet with the latest updates on Blade. In the tweet, he mentioned that Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige might be handling too much due to the expansion of the MCU. With the expansion of the MCU, Marvel has committed to producing, on average, eight projects per year.

The tweet further mentioned the script and other development issues related to the film. He said that the scenario of Restarting the blade is about 90 pages long and features only two action sequences. The tweet also indicates that Mahershala Ali is very frustrated with the process.

It’s been three years since the studio announced the film, and so far it hasn’t been able to make the expected progress with the film. All of this would seem reasonable for Mahershala Ali to be frustrated with. Now that director Bassam Tariq has also left the film, Marvel is looking for a new director. It can also cause additional delays in the movie.

MCU Blade Reboot Filming Delayed Three Months

The abandonment of the project by Bassam Tariq is perhaps not the only problem of the film. Earlier in July, the film reportedly delayed filming by three months. Filming was supposed to start in July 2022 but was postponed to November 2022.

How will Marvel portray the Blade in the MCU?

So far, Marvel has no R-rated movies. The only upcoming movie that is expected to be R-rated in the cinematic universe is Dead Pool 3. Although the earliest Blade the films were rated R, Marvel has not confirmed that its Restarting the blade will be rated R.

Fans were a little worried about the changes the MCU would bring to the Daywalker. It’s possible the character doesn’t have his R-rated comic book perk to make him more family-friendly.

Similar to its other movies, the studio has managed to keep everything a secret so far. The post-credits scene of The Eternals gave a hint about Blade’s entry into the MCU. Other than Mahershala Ali, Blade includes Delroy Lindo, Aaron Stone, Kit Harington and John West Jr.

Blade is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2023.
