‘These Things Take Time’: Static Shock Writer Debunks Fan-Fueled Rumors About Film’s Cancellation

As part of DC Comics’ new initiative in 1993, a character named Static was created and now stars in Static shock, his very first live-action film. While nothing is set in stone, the rumors surrounding the film’s development have particularly affected invested fans due to the recent stream of changes happening within the walls of Warner Bros. Luckily for fans, however, the writer and artist of Static shock comic, Nikolas Draper-Ivey actively dispelled all these rumors.

Static shock Comic Writer & Artist Provides DC Updates

Static shock was first announced at the DC FanDome 2020 event where CCO Jim Lee confirmed the film was in development. However, since then there have been many changes in and around DC Films and its parent company, Warner Bros. – which are both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery by David Zaslav.

What We Know About DC’s Live-Action So Far Static shock

The DC movie was adapted from Static comic which was first published in June 1993 in the issue entitled Static #1. He was one of the first characters to come out of DC Comics’ new initiative, Milestone Comics, which was created in order to lend a platform to underrepresented voices and integrate more African-American characters into The mixture. The movie’s announcement in 2020 was also tied to the announcement of the Milestone Comics revival.

Static was additionally part of the DC Animated Universe and ran well from 2000 to 2004. The current DC film will be the comic book character’s first live-action appearance and it follows the life of a young metahuman superhero black, Virgil Ovid Hawkins, imbued with the power of electromagnetism, who grows up to be one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The film’s screenplay was written by Security writer, Randy McKinnon, and Static shock will be directed by Reginald Hudlin. mcu Black Panther Actor Michael B. Jordan also joined the team as producer in October 2020 and announced the involvement of his production initiative, Outlier Society with the film and its director.
