She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode 7 introduced MCU fans to a bunch of weird, low-end D-list super villains from Marvel comics. This included Man-Bull, El Aguila, Porcupine and Saracen. So let’s explore who this new vampire character Saracen is in the MCU and how it will impact other films. We will also explore the rumor that he is Blade’s son.
Saracen in She-Hulk episode 7
In episode 7 of She-Hulk, Jen Walters visits the welfare retreat of Emil Blonsky, aka Abomination, with his parole officer. It was because Blonsky’s leg monitor was malfunctioning. Eventually, she decides to stay a few more days and try Emil’s therapeutic strategies. Here, she encounters a group of other villains who are also trying to move on and reform themselves with Blonsky’s help. As mentioned earlier, this included Man-Bull, El Aguila who is NOT a Matador, Porcupine, and a Wrecking Crew man. One of these villains was the vampire Saracen. Throughout the rest of the episode, all of these guys help Jen accept herself and deal with her internal struggles with She-Hulk. The episode focuses on her growth and how she bonds with this fun group of reformed villains.
Who is Saracen in the Marvel Comics?
In the Marvel comics, Saracen was the supervillain of the anti-hero, Punisher. He was an international mercenary and had only one job which was to kill Frank Castle. Despite his creepy comments about sucking blood in She-Hulk Episode 7, Saracen wasn’t actually a vampire in the Marvel comics. He was just a very dangerous, highly trained human being called Muzzafar Lambert. There was, however, another Saracen in the Marvel comics, much less known, who was supposed to be the first vampire on Earth. He’s probably the inspiration for the vampire we see on She-Hulk. Oddly enough, Saracen and Punisher first started out as allies and even worked on a mission together. During the mission, Saracen was brutally injured and even taken to the hospital by none other than Frank Castle aka the Punisher.
However, things change quickly and they become sworn enemies. They have several break-ins where they fight violently. Saracen eventually worked for the Bessucho crime family under U.S. Senator Stan Ori and worked as a hitman. He then killed the Punisher’s only remaining relative and used him to lure Punisher out. In retaliation, the Punisher then framed him for the senator’s death and left him wanted by international authorities. Eventually, the Punisher and the Saracen have one last battle against each other. They engaged in a sword fight which ultimately ended in Saracen’s death at the hands of Punisher. He stabbed Saracen through the heart and killed him almost instantly.
What are his powers?
He doesn’t have any superpowers so to speak. However, he is an extremely skilled fighter in both unarmed and armed combat. He most often wields his swords which are Saracen swords. This is also where it gets its name. He is an absolutely brilliant and highly skilled mercenary. Saracen is a master tactician and strategist especially with his long experience in the field of espionage. It’s not just swords and knives he wields, he can also wield machine guns and a number of other military-grade weapons.
Is he Blade’s son?
In the Marvel comics, Blade only has one child and it’s a girl. However, a scene from Episode 7 of She-Hulk led fans to theorize that Saracen could be Blade’s son. Plus, maybe it’s how MCU introduces Blade and the world of vampires to audiences. During the episode, Saracen references her father in one of her lines. However, this is probably just a guess. Saracen was one of the first vampires on Earth. He’s not the same Saracen as the villainous Punisher. This Saracen has a demonic servant called the Reaper and he lives under the Vatican. He is one of a certain kind of vampire that lives for long periods of time and is known as the Elder. His powers are basically those of any other vampire and it gives him superhuman strength, agility, stamina, and even speed.
