“Comic book movies have become darker and more serious”

One of the biggest features of movies and TV shows these days that people look down on is when creators/directors/showrunners lighten the mood of the feature (which happens a lot in DC and Marvel productions). Spawn, however, will not be subject to this kind of treatment.

Audiences who want a new experience need not worry, because the next Spawn the film looks quite promising. It will be produced by creator Todd McFarlane who has been working on it for quite some time now.

All About the Next Image Comic’s Spawn Movie

Spawn is one of the Image Comics anti-hero characters that has been around since the 90s. The character first appeared in Spawn #1 released in May 1992 and then got its standalone movie in 1997 starring Michael Jai White as Al Simmons/Spawn.

The 1997 film, regardless of critics criticizing it, is now set to get a new movie as an ongoing reboot has been announced. Todd McFarlane, the man who created the character, has been pushing for a sequel since 1998 and will direct production for the reboot.

The film’s script is finished, according to McFarlane (who finished it first but it will now be rewritten by Brian Tucker), and Scott Silver, Malcolm Spellman and Matthew Nixon will join him in making the film – the former two having already written for Joker and The Falcon and the winter soldier respectively.

He will also have Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx playing Spawn, who will be joined by Jeremy Renner aka Marvel’s Hawkeye as Twitch. There is no update on who else will be added to the cast, maybe an ensemble? But Foxx’s presence alone makes the film worth watching.
