Continuing this saga of original intentions, David Ayer, director of the 2016 DC blockbuster suicide squad was being watched closely, hoping to be the next to get the next Snyder treatment from Warner Bros. by publishing a Ayer Cup movie version.
And it looks like fans just might get what they want.
Ayer Cut screened in secret?
David Ayer has voiced his support for the grassroots campaign for the release of his version of the film, with the director showing his passion for the project via social media. the director has shared small clues that tease the existence of the cut. In October 2020, a tweet from the veteran filmmaker indicated that he had seen his cut recently, potentially hinting that he might be working on it after all.

Since recent events, we have confirmation from the official Twitter account of the ‘Free the Ayer Cup’ movement, which revealed that suicide squad director David Ayer screened his version of the film to one of his directors.

The user shared that the Ayer Cup has a runtime of 2 hours and 23 minutes while confirming that it is a “totally different story:”

Will we see an “Ayer Cup”?
To put it simply. We do not know.
This simple statement will always keep the Ayer Cup in speculation over whether Warner Bros. will go ahead with the idea of letting us attend the suicide squad as it was supposed to be in the original. But there’s no denying the existence of a more mature, gritty, and fun unreleased version of the film. Additionally, with the release of Snyder Cup of Justice League, The release of Ayer Cup of suicide squad doesn’t seem so implausible anymore. Until then, we can still look forward to the day when this becomes a reality.
And truth be told, it seems very likely that the day is not that far away.
