The Nintendo and Universal Pictures production of The movie Super Mario Bros. has countless numbers of people impatient with utter excitement. After all, who wouldn’t be thrilled when everyone’s favorite video game from Nintendo’s franchise gets its own modern adaptation in the form of an adventure/comedy film?
90s kids are pretty much on cloud nine right now.
And as impressive as the voice-over cast for the animated movie, Mario, or rather Chris Pratt’s Mario voice to be more precise, is not something fans would have seen coming. It certainly raised a few hundred eyes to the actor.
Fans Are Surprised By Chris Pratt’s Mario Voice
Recently, the trailer for The movie Super Mario Bros. came out and fans were surprised, to say the least, after hearing Mario’s voice in the movie.
The jurassic world Actor Chris Pratt, who is Mario’s voice actor, teased fans by claiming that the character’s voice was going to be “looks like nothing” they’ve heard of it before. And of course, it wasn’t something anyone expected, but in a far less delightful way than the prospect had been sold to the public.

While some think there’s nothing new or unique about Mario’s voice as Pratt promised and instead it’s almost too similar to the actor’s own voice, there are some. to others who are amused by it and who simply laugh heartily.
However, there is just the slightest hint of The Sopranos star, Paulie Walnuts in the voice of Pratt’s Mario, and fans don’t seem particularly charmed by that either.

In an interview about the film with Variety, Pratt claimed to be “proud of” his work for the Mario character. “I worked very closely with the directors, tried a few things, and landed on something that I’m really proud of, and I can’t wait for people to see and hear,” he stated.
The guardians of the galaxy star also remarked on how he studied the Italian mafia character, Paulie Walnuts played by Tony Sirico in The Sopranosfor his voiceover as Mario in the upcoming film.

While his intention was simply to study the star’s Italian accent carefully enough that he could portray the same through the character of Mario as accurately as possible, he seems to have missed the mark somewhat, if not entirely. .
While many people aren’t impressed with Pratt’s attempt, the movie’s trailer still gets tons of positive reactions. Maybe that could end up covering up the seething conversation about Mario’s fun voiceover too.
The movie Super Mario Bros. is set to hit theaters on April 7, 2023.
