Bishopsgate Attack: What Happened? All you need to know
This morning three people were stabbed in Bishopsgate in the City of London. In connection with an attempted bike theft, there were at least three stabbings in central London, witnesses said.

What happened at Bishopsgate?
According to police testimony, the altercation left three people stabbed, one was thrown to the ground and three were immediately taken to hospital. By 9.51am City of London Police had arrived at the scene after the attack, which happened at 9.46am.
At Bishopsgate we received reports of three stab wounds and one person being pushed to the ground at 9.46am. Officers arrived at the scene at 9:51 a.m. LAS sent three victims to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency services were called when numerous injuries were reported in Bishopsgate, near Liverpool Street station, around 10am. Police have cordoned off the area and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) are on the scene.
What is the reason for the attack?
Three people were stabbed in a fantasy incident today, and another person was knocked to the ground as they tried to stop a phone robbery. The incident allegedly took place not far from a police station. The sidewalk in front of a glass office building is covered in blood.
“We were summoned at 9.52am today for complaints about a stabbing in Bishopsgate,” the London Ambulance Service team reported. Resources included our Tactical Response Unit, three ambulance crews, two advanced paramedics, two incident response police, and more. Our team members saw 4 patients. One patient was discharged from hospital and three were admitted. Police have cordoned off the area and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) are on the scene.
Police are still looking for the thief and no arrests have yet been made. During his walkie-talkie, a traffic cop who was on duty in that area learned of the assault and quickly arrived on the scene. This incident shocked the entire public.
Police investigation
According to the police, there is no indication that it has anything to do with terrorism. On one of the busiest avenues in the country, four people were attacked in the morning for stealing phones. London Mayor Sadiq Khan says government budget cuts have increased knife crime across the country, but London is defying the trend.
“Austerity has repercussions.”
The good news is that it was not a terrorist attack, the mayor said.
It serves as a warning of the danger of carrying a knife across our country. Knife injuries have increased across the country, not as much as in London, and we are not at all complacent about that.
“I believe it is crucial to take a tough stance on crime, to fund policing and to tackle the complex roots of crime by investing in child and youth workers. We are seeing a drop in stab wounds in London, but there is no room for complacency.

It is important to note that, despite the wide dissemination of this information, there is NO evidence that this person was detained following the stabbing. Almost two hours after the Bishopsgate incident, he was taken into police custody. According to numerous witnesses, two suspects then immediately left the scene on bicycles.
