The rivalry between Marvel and DC has been an ongoing battle between many fans as well as the franchises themselves and Zack Snyder seems to have some thoughts on that. Although some have chosen to embrace the works of both franchises, some still prefer to choose one over the other. Marvel’s success rate when it comes to movies and TV shows may have been questionable lately, but there’s no doubt that it’s had a track record of one blockbuster after another. DC also made several hits, but they all seem to fall short of the others.
Former DCEU director Zack Snyder once said in an interview what his view of this constant competition is. The director’s own vision for the franchise had been unique, initially, but it could never really manifest as he was forced to walk away from the franchise, abandoning his plans for a five-film arc with it. .

Zack Snyder’s thoughts on the competition between Marvel and DC
On the one hand, Zack Snyder understands the need for competition between DC and Marvel from a business perspective, but when it comes to his personal opinions, the director thinks very differently. He said the desire to match each other’s levels is necessary to some degree, but with the reminder not to really change the tone of the franchise in the first place.
“Warner Bros. has to stick with what we’re doing.”
Snyder focuses on how DC movies have a completely different tone compared to Marvel movies. Their shows, especially their anime shows, enjoy massive recognition instead of competing. Instead, they should focus on how they built their Dark Knight Trilogy and a fresh start for Superman with Steel man, as well as their introduction to several new superheroes. Indeed, on the one hand, it makes sense to him that the DCEU would want a multi-superhero movie like Justice League compared to Marvel Avengers; consider more when WBD delayed Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice a year to come up against Captain America: Civil War.

With DC’s need for competition and Zack Snyder’s vision being one of the biggest obstacles that Warner Bros. Discovery has ever met
Zack Snyder’s vision for the DCEU had been in play ever since Henry Cavill’s Superman debuted, though he never got a chance to helm a sequel. Steel man, the potential sequel is, to date, one of the most anticipated DC movies. The massive petition that started as #releasethesnydercut soon evolved into #restorethesnyderverse as its vision had been the closest WBD to a plan in a while.
Having faced multiple issues in their movies, they couldn’t really shine against the hype Marvel movies get, pin one character similar to the other, and want to match the scaling the movies don’t. wasn’t what Zack Snyder thought would make the DCEU movies more successful. His plan was ready to go, setting up a complete era of end for the franchise.
However, that could never really go forward, with WBD wanting to steer the director away from the franchise, only releasing Zack Snyder’s Justice League due to high public demand in the first place. Even though the interview in question is from a long time ago, his opinions still remain relevant, with WBD and DC finally moving towards a proper course of action.
