Support for Amber Heard, while small compared to what thousands felt for Johnny Depp during and after the highly controversial defamation lawsuit, has been growing steadily of late. The Women’s March, a movement led by women, has also come out in favor of the Aquaman alum. This isn’t the first time they’ve done it though. Previously, a Twitter feed was created to highlight the nuances of misogyny and sexism that persist within our society.

With further clarification, it was also clarified that the internet believes Johnny Depp over Amber Heard due to such societal notions. The Women’s March said that “despite all the evidence of his [Johnny Depp’s] abuse,” no one was ready to express sympathy for the 36-year-old actress. Now, once again, in light of the recent controversy between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the movement’s Twitter account mentioned Heard in a tweet that sparked controversy.
Women’s March urges people to support Amber Heard
Two months ago, when things seemed to have stalled, the aftermath and aftermath of the Depp v. Heard were forcefully brought back when more than 6,000 pages of court documents made their way into the public sphere. Several shocking revelations contributed to the sudden surge of support for Heard. While such sentiments have been disputed by Depp fans and others in the general public, one voice of support that remains the strongest happens to be the Women’s March.
Recently, on October 5, the Women’s March took to Twitter, listed several famous female celebrities, and spoke out about how women who happen to be survivors or claim to have survived domestic violence should to be believed instead of “shame” Where “quiet”. One name on the list, which elicited an exasperated response, was Amber Heard.

Here’s what the entire tweet said:
“We believe Angelina Jolie, Amber Heard, FKA Twigs, Tyler Perry, Halle Berry, Evan Rachel Wood and Rihanna. So often, #DV survivors are shamed and silenced. When a victim/survivor reports their abuser, they deserve our support.
The reason for the negative reception of this statement, as pointed out by many fans, is due to the verdict of the defamation lawsuit which was strongly in favor of Johnny Depp. The actor was awarded $15 million after the jury ruled in his favor. The amount was later reduced to $10.35 million. Heard was found to have defamed Depp three times in an infamous Washington Post op-ed. The court also argued that the actress had “acted maliciously.”
At the same time, Amber Heard’s counterclaim, in which she initially sought $100 million, resulted in a count of defamation. She only got $2 million in compensatory damages. Beyond the verdict results, people also pointed to other flaws in the statements made by the Women’s March.
The reaction to the tweet
While people slammed the tweet for including Heard’s name despite the highly controversial verdict of the infamous trial, others were particularly troubled by the list of female celebrities who appeared to have been associated with the former. Several said that unlike the Aquaman alum, most of the women mentioned in the tweet weren’t accused of doing “false statements.” Others have claimed how much Amber Heard’s inclusion on the list waters down the experiences of “real victims”.
In general, the tweet appears to have garnered immense disapproval. Looked:
Amber Heard?? Seriously??

When you combine survivors and aggressor, how can anyone believe you. Sometimes the organizations that are supposed to help us do more harm than anyone else.
You can support anyone on toxic Twitter, but if you need help in real life, reach out to friends, experts, people you trust…— SandraD (@dsandra25) October 5, 2022
And Rihanna has said several times that she was out of her ordeal. She has a new man and a baby. Why even add his name? So messy.

You shouldn’t believe people based solely on their gender, you should believe a lot of these women, but supporting Heard is a slap in the face for the real victims.

Oh dear, I have a feeling some of these women wouldn’t be happy to see their name in the same sentence as Amber Heard.

New details and developments continue to swell in this legal fiasco. With Amber Heard pursuing an appeal against the libel trial verdict, it’s safe to say the case won’t be closed anytime soon. What might be intriguing, on the contrary, would be to see whether or not public opinion, which seems to strictly oppose the actress, will change in the least with said appeal.
Only time can tell what other disturbing and gnarly revelations will make their way to the public.
