The CW Dark Fantasy Drama Supernatural aired for 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020. When the show ended in 2020, the show’s creators announced a prequel to the series, The Winchesters. Recent updates related to the show have confirmed that Tom Welling will also be joining the upcoming CW show. Supernatural has not only become the network’s longest-running series, but is also among its most popular shows. It follows the Winchesters brothers as they hunt supernatural beings.
The Winchesters is a prequel to Supernatural and will follow the history of the Winchester family. The show would be based in 1972 and would focus primarily on the Winchester brothers’ parents, John Winchester and Mary Campbell, how they met, fell in love, and their journey ahead.

Tom Welling joins the cast of the Winchesters
Tom Welling, who played Clark Kent in Smallvillejoined the cast of The Winchesters. Welling will appear as Sam and Dean’s grandfather. The show’s producer and cast announced the news at New York Comic Con.
The Professionals star also made a surprise appearance at comic con. Tom Welling will play Samuel Campbell, the father of Mary Campbell. In Supernatural, Mitch Pileggi played the role, but he won’t be returning for the prequel. Tom Welling will make his first appearance in the seventh episode.

Executive producer and showrunner Robbie Thompson said Tom Welling was a fantastic actor, and the moment he was mentioned they knew he was perfect for the role. Tom Welling is known for the hit TV series Smallville. With this television series, he also became the longest-serving live-action actor in history to play Superman.
Other than The Winchesters, Tom Welling is also expected to appear in several projects in the future. He should also play in Six deep, an action thriller directed by Scott Windhauser. There are also rumors suggesting that Welling will also appear in the next DC movie, the flash.

‘The Winchesters’ is the first official Supernatural spin-off
The prequel to Supernatural was announced in 2021. The Winchesters is the first official spin-off of Supernatural. It will follow the story of Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents from Dean Winchester’s perspective. Jensen Ackles, who played Dean Winchester in Supernaturalalso joined the prequel as an executive producer.
There are no updates if another actor from Supernatural will also join the show, but Jensen Ackles is confirmed to be on The Winchesters. “I think the fans will be cool if we bring an actor who played a certain famous character on the show to come do something different,” said Jensen.
The Supernatural star will do the voiceover in The Winchesters. In one of his recent interviews, he also mentioned that viewers might also hear more voices from Supernatural in the next show. The Winchesters will have a total of 13 episodes. Its cast includes Drake Rodger, Meg Donnelly, Nida Khurshid, Jojo Fleits and Bianca Kajlich in the lead.
The Winchesters will premiere on The CW on October 11, 2022. It will also be available on The CW’s official website one day after its release.
