New details about Colin Farrell’s Penguin HBO Max series are finally here.

Colin Farrell has opened up about his upcoming WarnerMedia HBO Max streaming service Penguin series, revealing that the spin-off opens a week after the events of The Batman. Describing the penguin episode one script as “charming” and “well-written”, Farrell spoiled the exact way the series opens.

“It starts a week after The Batman ended, so Gotham is still a little bit underwater,” Farrell said during an interview with Extra. “I read the first script of the first episode, and it opens with my feet splashing in water from Falcone’s office.”

Later in the interview, Colin Farrell shared his excitement about reprising the role of Penguin after his brief introduction in The Batman.

“I love this character and I was greedy with him. I felt like I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to do it more and more, so now I have the chance.

Mare Of Easttown director Craig Zobel is directing the first two episodes of The Penguinwith Lauren LeFranc (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD) overseeing the project as writer and showrunner. Colin Farrell serves as an executive producer on the series alongside The Batman director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark.

The Batman opened last March, earning 770.8 million at the worldwide box office. Matt Reeves is working on a sequel to the Warner Bros. project. and is currently writing her screenplay alongside Mattson Tomlin.
