Black Panther 2 officially introduces the MCU’s first mutant character

The official debut of X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been eagerly awaited by Marvel fans since the Disney-Fox merger. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave us a glimpse of Professor X in an alternate reality, while Wanda-Vision hinted that the Scarlet Witch was also born a mutant. But the first person who identifies as a mutant in the MCU’s Earth 616 appears in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Namor is a mutant

MCU fans have seen the word “mutation” in Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel earlier this year. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Tenoch HuertaNamor’s name dropped the word “mutant” when addressing itself. Marvel is gradually, but undeniably, preparing for mutants in one way or another. As Namor officially addresses the Mutants, this is a pivotal moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yet, no information is given on the details. The possible answer to Namor’s existence is that his people consumed the same rare herb that gave him his powers.

However, Namor has a number of other distinctive qualities, such as wings on his feet, which the film avoids going into too much detail about.

Besides his X-Gene, the film shows how seriously Namor takes the anonymity of his people and how far he will go to maintain it.

Namor’s origins in the MCU
