HBO Max Executive Provides Update On ‘Green Lantern’ TV Series

HBO Max executive Sarah Aubrey offered a live action status update The Green Lantern series.

During a recent interview with Variety, HBO Max Originals Manager Sarah Aubrey was asked about the long-awaited live-action The Green Lantern Berlanti Productions series. While she can’t say much about the project itself, Aubrey said the folks behind HBO Max were excited to work on it with producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

“We remain very excited about the opportunity to do a grand four-quadrant space opera starring Greg and Sarah for HBO Max,” Aubrey told Variety, confirming that the The Green Lantern The series is still in development on the streaming service.

The The Green Lantern The series was originally supposed to revolve around Guy Gardner and Alan Scott, but is now revamped to focus on John Stewart. Seth Grahame-Smith stepped down as writer and showrunner as part of the creative overhaul.

Finn Wittrock and Jeremy Irvine were set to star in Seth Grahame-Smith’s version of the Green Lantern series, but the actors are no longer attached to the projects. For the moment, The Green Lantern has a script-to-series commitment but no official production start date.

The The Green Lantern The news came a day after James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired as the new heads of DC’s film, television and animation efforts at Warner Bros. Discovery. Gunn and Safran were named co-presidents and co-CEOs of DC Studios, which replaced the studio’s DC Films division. The duo began work on November 1.
