Sydney Sweeney, well known for her role as Cassie in Euphoria, was embroiled in a controversy that erupted at her mother’s 60th birthday party. The 25-year-old star shared photos and videos from the party the next day on Instagram. However, it was her innocent action that brought her into such a situation.
Although she took charge and addressed the issue on Twitter, her actions did not bear any fruit. Knowing the Internet users would not back down, the Euphoria the actress gave up on her attempts to appease them.

While all Sweeney wanted was a nice party for her beloved mother’s special day, the online reaction to her Instagram post was not what she dreamed of. The root of the controversy turned out to be a “Blue Lives Matter” shirt worn by an unidentified man in his photos. Blue Lives Matter is a pro-law opposition to Black Lives Matter that somehow pokes fun at the Black Lives Matter movement.

Exhausted by the criticism she was receiving, the Madame Web The star posted a tweet criticizing the public for turning an innocent celebration into a nonsensical political statement.

But that didn’t seem to help as netizens weren’t silenced and continued to criticize his efforts to calm the matter.
Sydney Sweeney responds to fan criticism
The Emmy-nominated actress has never been shy about expressing her love for her family, one example being the party she threw for her mother’s 60th birthday.
“I could not have pursued my dreams without his support in this decision. I was 12, 13 and my mom and dad gave up everything they knew so I could pursue my dreams. We lost friends, we lost our home, we lost everything looking for him.
The Clementine the actress has been nothing but patient with the criticism she’s received. Instead, one of his earlier tweets even supported the Black Lives Matter movement.

So when his efforts were in vain, Sweeney decided to take a step back from the conversation that would be for naught.
“Honestly, I feel like nothing I say can help the conversation,” she says. “It’s turned into a wildfire and nothing I can say will get it back on track.”
It remains to be seen whether or not his recent remarks would calm the critics against him.
