Most of the DCU has been in tragic rebuilding since the April 2022 merger handed the reins of the parent organization to David Zaslav. man of steel 2 is among the most recent projects under the new Warner Bros. umbrella. which were critically greeted with a positive response from audiences after the heartbreaking surgical cut of projects in development and on the go for the first few months.
However, now that the cat is out of the bag and Henry Cavill can’t wait to don the red cape again, the direction he’s looking to fly has become a controversial topic of debate among lifelong DC fans.

There has been talk for several years that DCEU’s Flash is gearing up for a Flashpoint storyline. It was stated as early as the SnyderVerse timeline that the events leading up to the Justice League the film could be subject to inversion and the theory only took flight with increasing clarity once the flash was announced. Flashpoint and Knightmare are no longer possibilities in the DC Cinematic Universe, and while the latter is simply lost to the wind, the former is now hope for Warner Bros. to usher in a new DC era.

One of the major changes through Flashpoint that will reverberate among fans is the erasure of Superman’s DCEU history. Considered one of the finest cinematic portrayals of Superman’s origin, Zack Snyder Steel man was controversial for more than a handful of reasons. But it was General Zod’s bare-knuckle slaying that transgressed expectations of what Superman represented to the global community – a beacon of hope and virtue.
Murder, necessary as it was, took away something inherently good and replaced it with a corrupting grief that consumed Superman for years to come. This arc has never been fully explored due to Steel man leading directly to the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But DCU now intends to change all that and erase much of the corruption that made Henry Cavill’s Superman a classically tragic hero.

According to an exclusive report by Giant scary robotthe newly announced man of steel 2 won’t be the promised sequel and will instead serve as a reboot of the Superman franchise. Although DCEU has already established the famous comic book character’s origin, it’s now entirely possible for Superman to never come to terms with the events leading up to the Kryptonians’ climactic battle over Metropolis.

It mostly violates the pre-existing story that defined the potential of the DCEU Superman and was one of the most definitive moments of his life. It also serves as a complete disregard for the comic canon that saw the Man of Steel execute a calculated and cruel murder of Kryptonian warriors Zod, Quex-Ul, and Zaora in the 1988 issue. Superman #22 when the latter trio decimates Pocket Universe Earth.
man of steel 2 will now be intrinsically linked to the Andy Muschietti project, the flash which, thanks to Flashpoint, will be able to reverse much of the events of the SnyderVerse. An exploration of the events directly after Steel man won’t be in DC’s strategy when it comes to rumors. Henry Cavill’s ongoing narrative of a happier, lighter Superman story also makes sense, given the new direction James Gunn and Peter Safran are going with DCU.
