‘Hope they make some cool movies’: Zack Snyder reveals DCU chief James Gunn didn’t contact him despite promising message, sends best regards despite WB humiliation

Since the management of Warner Bros. Discovery has rumbled and finally opened its doors to new management from James Gunn and Peter Safran, with fans eagerly awaiting the legendary Zack Snyder’s return to DC Films to take over the studios from his glory days. After huge demands and petitions from the public for Justice League: The Snyder Cutfans were hoping the minute Warner Bros. had the chance to reinstate it, they would jump on it with everything they have.

But it seems the new management has done nothing to bring Zack Snyder back to the company.

In a recent interview with The Preston and Steve ShowSnyder was curiously asked when they might expect to see him again with DC Films, to which he replied that despite his hopes, there had been no contact from the new management.

Zack Snyder has not been contacted by James Gunn

Following the departure of longtime CEO Walter Hamada from Warner Bros. Discovery due to numerous mismanagement issues, directors James Gunn and Peter Safran were tasked with leading the new era of DC Films by the CEO of Warner Bros. David Zaslav. His reasoning for bringing Gunn into the fold was simple and clear, and it was to get someone who knew how to make a superhero movie with both the vision of a director and a comic book fan. As many fans may know, Gunn has worked with the MCU and DCEU for a long time, so he was the natural choice by default.

But since Gunn’s takeover, fans have repeatedly called on him to fire Zack Snyder back to the company. Snyder had repeatedly shown his enthusiasm to return to DC Films after the whole reshuffling fiasco inside Warner Bros. Discovery and had already been assured by Gunn himself that he would bring it back. But in a recent interview on a radio show called The Preston & Steve Show, Snyder revealed he still hasn’t been contacted by anyone at the company regarding his comeback, leading the Justice League disappointed manager. He said:

“As far as I know, which is very little, I’m doing my thing and no one has called me or anything, I just wish them all the best and hope they make some cool movies.”

This surprises a lot of fans because it was one of the changes that Gunn promised to make, which was to listen carefully to fans about what they like and find a solution that could help both the company and the public to win.

Why hasn’t Zack Snyder come back yet?

There could be several reasons why Warner Bros. hesitant to bring Zack Snyder back, one of the biggest of these could be a fresh start that James Gunn has planned. Zack Snyder’s version of the movies was aptly called the Snyderverse, where his ideas were the be-all and end-all of the DC Cinematic Universe, but what Gunn might be trying to do is probably create a whole new universe in the DCU, which invalidates Snyder’s presence in the company entirely. Either that or Gunn is just caught up in the workload after taking over leadership and forgetting to call him.
